While their respective teams were busy fighting on the ice Monday, New York Rangers coach John Tortorella fired back at New Jersey Devils coach Peter DeBoer one day later.
After DeBoer called Tortorella a "hypocrite" for objecting to his starting lineup of enforcers, the latter responded with two words: "Shut up!"
The Atlantic Division rivals didn't waste time renewing acquaintances on Monday as three fights erupted simultaneously just three seconds into the contest. With New Jersey defenseman Bryce Salvador receiving a 10-minute misconduct for trying to pull Stu Bickell off a bloodied Ryan Carter, a total of 40 minutes of penalties were distributed.
During a Feb. 7 contest, New Jersey's Cam Janssen fought Mike Rupp and Eric Boulton of the Devils tangled with Brandon Prust just two seconds after the opening faceoff.
