John Buccigross at ESPN.com discusses the good and the bad of Chris Kreider..."Chris Kreider is still a work in progress for the Rangers. The upside is huge but the Rangers are still concerned about his skating and play without the puck in all three zones. It would be nice to chart his progress. He no doubt will be good, but the jury is out on whether he can be great. (I for one, love him.) As a Ranger source told me recently, 'There were times in the playoffs he was our best player and there were times he was our worst.'"...the Rangers are worried about Kreider's skating? Really? That would be the last thing I'd think they were concerned about. Buccigross is the guy running around telling anyone who will listen that the Rangers wanted to trade Gaborik for Dan Boyle this summer, so I'm not so sure I believe this.Buccigross adds that Ryan McDonagh might be the fastest backward skater in the NHL.Remember to follow me on Twitter & Facebook or e-mail me...

Checking in on the Michael Del Zotto contract situation

The last thing that the Rangers as an organization need to do is to get RFA Michael Del Zotto under contract. When we last wrote about this,  Larry Brooks was on record saying that the Rangers offered MDZ a multi-year deal in the $2.5 million range. Del Zotto was rumored to be looking for more, but no concrete numbers were provided. The logical assumption is that Del Zotto’s...

Any Chance Rangers Use Redden This Season?

After being asked if there's any chance the Rangers use Wade Redden on the big club, Adam Proteau at The Hockey News gives this answer..."Even if Redden turned his game around, the Rangers' blueline is fairly stacked as it is. Are you going to play him as a fifth or sixth D-man at that cost? No, you are not. Redden has two seasons to go with a $6.5-million cap hit and...

News & Notes: Potential Full-Season Lockout, Shane Doan, McIlrath, Etc.

It is inevitable, at this point, that the 2012-13 NHL season will at the very least be temporarily locked out on September 15 (exactly a week from today) due to the inability of the NHL and the NHLPA to come up with a newly written collective bargaining agreement prior to the deadline previously set by team owners.
