The Bolts struggled offensively and were unable to capitalize on a couple two on one breaks resulting in their first loss in six games. New York’s goalie Martin Biron stopped 30 of 32 Lightning shots, 15 of those shots coming in the third period. The only one able to beat him twice was Steven Stamkos. With a 1-1 tie heading into the third period, Rangers’ Rick Nash scored just three minutes in the period to give New York a 2-1 lead. 10 minutes later, Carl Hagelin found the net off a tip-in to extend the Rangers lead to 3-1. With :21 seconds remaining in regulation, Stamkos would score his seventh goal of the season but obviously not enough time for the Bolts to at least tie it. Mathieu Garon was in net for the Lightning Saturday night. He stopped 27 of 30 shots. As time expired, Bolts captain Vinny Lecavalier blocked a shot off his foot/ankle and was slow to get off the ice. The team will be evaluating him tomorrow and are expected to know more then. The Lightning end their five game homstand 4-1-0. They now hit the road for three games and start it by playing the Flyers Tuesday night.
