Rangers’ Filip Chytil game-time decision vs. Hurricanes

Chytil returned to the lineup for Game 3’s victory over Carolina after a lengthy absence that held him out since November 2nd due to an upper-body injury. He had returned to his home country of Czechia to heal and train before making the trip back to New York in January. Upon returning, Chytil was practicing and wound up in concussion protocol once again, holding him out of the lineup until playoffs.

Following the game, Chytil spoke on what it felt like to get hit again on the ice by an opposing player, “It was amazing. Felt so good. Never felt better that somebody hit me or I hit somebody. I even got a stick to the face once and I was like — yeah, give me more,” Chytil told Daily Faceoff’s Jonny Lazarus.

Chytil is currently in the first year of a four-year contract with a $4.4375 million cap hit. The 24-year-old was producing when he was healthy at the start of the season racking up six assists in 10 games. Which would have put him on pace for 49 points in a full season, that point count would have surpassed his career-high of 45 points set during the 2022-23 campaign.

The Rangers are up 3-0 in the series against Carolina and will face off in Game 4 tonight.
