This news should not come as a shock, but Andrew Gross is reporting that Mike Sauer indeed has a concussion following the massive hit by Dion Phaneuf in the Rangers 4-2 loss on Monday night (video below). New York Rangers defenseman Mike Sauer has been listed as day-to-day due to a concussion.
Sauer suffered the injury in Monday's game against Toronto when he took a shoulder check from the Maple Leafs' Dion Phaneuf.
Sauer has already missed five games this season with a strained shoulder. He has a goal and two assists in 19 games.
