It was a roller coaster week for the New York Rangers, an OT victory over the Bruins, which featured a Hat Trick from Marian Gaborik, followed by a terrible showing against the Flyers in Philly, culminating Saturday night with an impressive 5-2 comeback victory of the Maple Leafs at Madison Square Garden. In this lock out shortened season, every bad game, every missed opportunity is going to be scrutinized because every point is valuable. The fact that the Rangers first four games were against teams that made the playoffs last season a tough start was to be expected. For a team that is introducing five new players to their system, you had to know there would be some growing pains early on especially since there was no training camp and only six days to practice together before the first game. There were plenty of good signs from the Rangers Saturday night, after trailing 2-0 after the first period, which was actually well played, except for a few defensive mistakes, the Rangers star...

Arnott does not pass physical, deal with Rangers is dead

Per John Shannon, the “newly signed” Jason Arnott did not pass his physical for the Rangers. This will kill any potential deal with the organization, and Arnott will return to the free agent pool. No details have been released about what prevented him from passing the physical. However, Arnott did have knee surgery over the summer, so that may be what killed it. Tweet

Thoughts on Torts’ even strength and power play line changes

According to Andrew Gross at Rangers Rants, Torts juggled the line combos today at practice with both his even strength and power play units. Gross reported the following line combos: Nash-Richards-Gaborik Hagelin-Stepan-Callahan Pyatt-Boyle-Ferriero Rupp-Halpern-Asham Should these lines stay in tact, it appears Hagelin is moving up the second line and Pyatt is going back to the...

(Ed Note: This article appears courtesy our friends at Bloguin's national NHL site Puck Drunk Love.) Just when you thought the “While The Men Watch” controversy was over, it turns out it’s not.  On their official fan blog entitled “Blueshirts United,” the New York Rangers published an article Friday entitled “A Girl’s Guide to Watching the Rangers” (Note...

Rangers Hang On to Beat the Flyers

The New York Rangers survived a frantic third period to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers tonight by a score of 2-1 at Madison Square Garden. The way the Blueshirts played tonight is exactly the kind of style that won the team many games last season. They got some timely scoring from defenseman Michael Del Zotto and team captain Ryan Callahan before relying on their penalty killing...

Flyers-Rangers Preview

After a poor start, the New York Rangers appear to be getting on track. That also seemed to be the case for the Philadelphia Flyers - until their last outing. These Atlantic Division rivals meet for the second time in six days Tuesday night in a matchup of teams trying to move past sputtering beginnings. The Rangers (2-3-0) have looked better in winning two of three since stumbling...

Flyers Fall To Rangers, It's There Own Fault

Image courtesy of MSG. (Ryan Callahan left the game with an apparent shoulder injury) If you watched the game, you know the Flyers lost this game.  The Rangers played a strong game, but they certainly didn't win the game, we lost it.  The Flyers again were unable to capitalize on their power plays, and they get the loss. The Flyers went 1 for 6 on the PP tonight, they are now...

The Wild are a little bit better!

One thing that has struck me about the WIld so far has been the low goal output thus far. In 4 games, they are averaging only 2.5 goals a game, with their greatest output a 4 goal night on opening night. This has probably been the greatest frustration with the Wild since they came into existence. Even when Marian Gaborik was here, the Wild just never seemed able to score. Now with...
