Larry Brooks at the NY Post reports that the Rangers have signed Matt Gilroy to a $650,000, one-year deal.
Gilroy has 6g, 9a in 34 games with the Whale this season and is a -16.
...nothing wrong with a little depth on the blueline.
...while he has been horrific defensively with the Whale this season, he could be used if the Rangers power play faulters again this year.

Per Larry Brooks, the Rangers have agreed to terms with defenseman Matt Gilroy. The contract is believed to be for one year at $650,000. We noted that Gilroy adds some much-needed depth and flexibility to the Rangers blue line, and was number two on the list of things we can expect the Rangers can do with business operating as usual.
The New York Rangers signed defenseman Matt Gilroy to a one-year contract, and the New York Post reported the deal is worth $650,000. He provides depth for the Rangers after getting three goals and 17 assists in 67 games last season, which he split between Tampa Bay and Ottawa. Gilroy has been playing this season in the AHL with the Rangers' affiliate in Hartford, Conn.
