The Nashville Predators visited Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night in the second game of back-to-back contests, losing to the New York Rangers 3-0. The loss ended Nashville’s five-game winning streak.

Henrik Lundqvist picked up the his third shutout of the season for the League-leading Rangers, stopping all 27 shots on goal from Nashville.

Anders Linback picked up the loss in goal for the Predators. Lindback stopped 26 of 28 shots on goal by the Rangers. The third Rangers goal was awarded automatically when Marty Erat was assessed a penalty on Ryan Callahan as he was skating in towards an empty net.

Dan Girardi opened scoring at 6:15 of the first period when the puck went in the Predators goal off of Nashville defenseman Jack Hillen.

The Rangers made it a 2-0 game in the middle frame when John Mitchell beat Lindback at 10:42 into the period.

Ryan Suter and Jerred Smithson were out of the lineup for Nashville. It was the first game all season that Suter didn’t play in for Nashville. The All-Star defenseman has an upper-body injury and left after the first period of Monday’s game against the Islanders.

Winners of eight of their last ten games, Nashville will try to get back on track on Thursday night when they visit Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets. On Tuesday night, the Blue Jackets were down 2-0 to Edmonton but ended up winning the game 4-2.
