Going into the afternoon tilt, one probably thought it was going to be a defensive battle for 60 minutes. Instead, 7 goals were scored with the New York Rangers coming out on top over the Boston Bruins by a score of 4-3. It was not easy but the Rangers did what they had to do to win. For starters, the team was able to get two big ones in the first period on goals by Ruslan Fedotenko and Carl Hagelin. The goals came 1:10 apart as the team took advantage of a somewhat tired Bruins hockey club coming off a 3-2 loss to the New York Islanders yesterday afternoon at the TD Garden. However, Bruins’ head coach Claude Julien called a timeout after the second Blueshirts’ goal and did not say a word. Sometimes, silence really is golden. Tuukka Rask's Injury Comes at Tough Time, As Bruins Already Shorthanded on Offense, Face Packed Schedule

BOSTON – Throughout the season, the Bruins have pointed at their two-headed monster in goal as one of their biggest strengths. Where other teams may have seen a potential problem with two netminders capable of being the No. 1 guy on most clubs, the Bruins saw it as enviable depth that would give them a chance to keep both fresh down the stretch when the schedule really picks up...

Marc Staal Reaching the Point of Normalcy

With defenseman Michael Del Zotto out of the lineup on Friday against the Tampa Bay Lightning, it was expected that the first pairing of Dan Girardi and Ryan McDonagh, as they so often do, would have to take on a heavier workload in DZ's absence. However, much to the surprise of many, that duty was passed straight over Girardi and McDonagh and splatted on the plate of Marc...

Eklund: Is Callahan the best captain in the NHL today?

Ryan Callahan is not the lineup today for the Rangers in their matinee against the Bruins, due to a bruised foot that has kept him for the last three games. Nevertheless, I think today is as good a time as any to ask if Callahan has become the predominant captain in the NHL. There are many different styles of captaincy in hockey, and there is no one single "right" way...

Do the Bruins Need to Acquire Another Goalie if Tuukka Rask Misses Significant Time?

The Bruins lost more than just a game on Saturday against the New York Islanders. They also lost Tuukka Rask to injury for an unknown amount of time. Rask won't be travelling to New York with the team on Sunday to take on the Rangers, so Michael Hutchinson will be an emergency addition for the B's. Hutchinson is 6-11-0 with a 2.62 GAA and a .920 save percentage this season...

David Krejci's Hot Streak Alongside Milan Lucic, Tyler Seguin Could Make New Line Tough to Break Up (Video)

Tuukka Rask's injury could make life difficult for Tim Thomas and the Bruins down the stretch, but as NESN's Mark Mowers puts it, you can't count out Thomas because he's consistently proved doubters wrong throughout his career. What is evident, though, is that the B's will need to elevate their game against difficult opponents, such as the Rangers. The B's...
