The Capitals got off to a hot start, pressuring rookie goalie Dustin Tokarski, who was making his first career NHL start, into five saves in the first 150 seconds of the game.  After that early onslaught, however, the offensively strong Bolts began to come at Tomas Vokoun in waves, and it was only the strong play of a goalie playing for the first time in over two weeks that kept the game tied.  Just before 15 minute...

Caps May Soon Be Playing For Pride

from Thomas Boswell of the Washington Post, The Washington Capitals’ season, as well as the whole trajectory of the franchise’s history, is at a crossroads with 16 games to play. The team that led the NHL in regular season points over the past three seasons — better than San Jose or Vancouver or anybody — would not even be included in the 16-team NHL postseason if the playoffs...

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Washington Capitals 3/6/12

Tuesday night's 4-3 overtime win over the Washington Capitals goes down as one of the most exciting Carolina games I have seen this year. With 85 combined shots and 44 scoring chances between both teams, you would expect an exciting contest. However, "exciting" and "good hockey" are not synonymous and this certainly was a sloppy played game by both teams....

Lightning-Capitals Preview

The Washington Capitals' lackluster play is nothing new, and with a month left in the season, it's no longer safe to assume the four-time reigning Southeast Division champions will simply turn it on and make a playoff push. As the losses pile up, Washington sounds less and less like a team that believes it can. The Capitals try to avoid matching a season high with a fourth...
