Gettin it off my chest! This week, things about the Canucks that drive me crazy. Trading Hodgson WHAT THE @#$@ Where did this trade come from? Cody Hodgson is young, he’s cheap, he’s playing out of position and he’s STILL one of the best third line players in the NHL. He’s probably the most natural goal scorer the Canucks have had since Bertuzzi, and he LOVED Vancouver and probably would have signed a cheap deal in a year or so (maybe 5 years 15 million?) and eventually become a first line player. That trade was BULL@#$! It does not make any sense for a contender to make a trade where we somehow DON’T get the best player in the deal. Idiotic.
People who think the Cody Hodgson trade was bad
IDIOTS! The trade was brilliant! Gillis took a gamble, but the payoff can (and should) be very high. Zack Kassian is younger than Hodgson, and he fills a specific hole that the Canucks needed filled. Do you think that Kassian would hesitate to shattered Marchand’s skull if Boston and Vancouver meet again? Do you think he’ll shy away from physical play? He’s the missing piece! Plus, Hodgson didn’t fit as well on that third line, Sami Pahlsson will make it more of a checking line and will give the Canucks the same effective balance they had last season. This was a great trade! Did you know Kassian is younger than Hodgson? Actually, you know what I really hate?? NOT KNOWING WHAT THE @#$! TO THINK That’s what I hate the most. I’ve gone back and forth on this trade roughly 200 times in the past two days. I hated it, than I liked it, than I was unsure. Now I’m still unsure. I don’t like not being sure about thing. You know how I deal with uncertainty? Alcohol. Lots and lots of it. There’s nothing wrong with that, but this started on a Monday. I’m shocked my editor is still employing me. I don’t know how this trade will turn out, all I know is that I will develop a really strong opinion about it during the playoffs, and that opinion will swing rapidly on a game to game basis. Losing to Phoenix Oh hey, this makes me happier, because I KNOW WHAT TO THINK ABOUT THIS! Except I know that when I think about that game, my heart starts beating in my eyeball. Disgusting. What a terrible display. A complete lack of focus, and a total lack of discipline. When you have an inferior team, you bury them. You just do. There are no exceptions. There are no mother@#^ing “off nights.” There are no shootout excuses. You just win. What’s that you say? Phoenix is actually a good team this year? No they aren’t!
Their division sucks. They aren’t a good team.
Stop saying it, stop thinking it, and if you can’t do those things, stop watching hockey. Immediately. Meanwhile, I’m going back to my fridge for a beer. Hodgson slots in seamlessly for Sabres

With the post-trade posturing by teams, general managers and fans to promote the view that this is a trade that helps both teams, often thats far from the case, and considering the wealth of draft picks and prospects exchanged at the deadline, its not always clear which team emerges as the victor in the long run. While we promoted Vancouvers and Nashvilles roster upgrades as strong...

Game 66 Sabres Vs. Canucks: Let Gillis Have It

“Cody was something special…” The conversation has been divided; as it usually is about anything in Canucks Nation. Resistance is Futile, so why do I resist? Would you cheer if Cody Hodgson scored Saturday night? The guys on TEAM1040 kicked it around this morning with Jason Botchford saying you aren’t a true fan if you cheer for a Hodgson goal. I have nothing against Jason...

St. Louis Blues vs. Canucks blog: love ’em & hate ‘em

I Got The Blues Oh thank god this game didn’t go to overtime. The St Louis Blues and Vancouver Canucks locked horns in a must-see Thursday game if you had to get up really early Friday morning and were having trouble falling asleep so early in the evening. The game was less of a playoff preview and more of a playoff warning that if you thought a series against Nashville was boring...

Hodgson and Sulzer for Kassian and Gragnani: Where Does the Shocking Deadline Deal Leave the Canucks?

AP By Adam Graham (@adam_graham) On the most overhyped day of the year in the NHL, there were very few deals that raised even fewer eyebrows, except for in Vancouver. This is the home to the one and only deadline deal that shocked the hockey world in 2012. The Vancouver Canucks dealt their prized rookie Cody Hodgson and defenseman Alexander Sulzer to the Buffalo Sabres for a tough...

Canucks vs. Phoenix Coyotes blog: love ’em & hate ‘em

Swapped Life of Zack & Cody I can guarantee you that interest in a Phoenix road game has never been higher than it was Tuesday. It wasn’t the dazzling charms of Dave Tippett’s exciting brand of up-tempo defensive sludge, but rather the circumstances under which, in some circles at least, some combination of regicide and infanticide not seen since the Shakespearian days had...

Game Day Musings

It’s another edition of Musings on a game day. How convenient. It’s also the first since the deadline came and went and the deadline day inactivity was a blessing or curse; depending on your point of view of course. The biggest winner of the deadline day for me: Buffalo. I think Cody Hodgson should be a quality center for a long time to come and any team that can get a 1st AND...

Game 65 Blues Vs. Canucks: Arch Your Back for this Showdown

Crickity-Crack, The Canucks Are Back When the Vancouver Canucks hit the ice at Rogers Arena Thursday night, it will be for the first time in 12 really, really long days. A six game road trip for Canucks fans is like going 40 days and 40 nights without the frozen goodness that is sex…I mean hockey. Honey Badger Don't Care 'Bout Brian Elliott Either way you look at it, the...
