The signing of Martin Gerber was an astute move by Steve Tambellini. Gerber's spot on the roster (4th on the depth chart) allows them to make sure the Barons have solid goaltending and offers a suitable backup plan should last season's snafu repeat itself with the big league club. His .914 SP was good enough for 16th overall in the KHL, a very good hockey league.
