Pens swept their three-game Southeast trip. Can't remember the last time that happened.
Florida sucks, and this game was pretty boring. Unlimited Pens fans in attendance.
This tweet sums up our feelings as the Pens move into the biggest week of the season:
-- Brenden Morrow was a monster in this game. He had three points. But it wasn't just that. He was physical and carried the load. He just missed getting a hat trick. He nearly got a piece of Kris Letang's first goal:
-- Overall, the Pens are playing a much more physical style. The last two games have been way more hard-hitting than usual. 40 hits in this one.
-- Beau Bennett continues his strong season. Two primary assists. First multi-point game. Might have something to do with the James Neal hoodie.
-- Kris Letang played 28 minutes. Good God.
-- At the end of the game when Morrow was putting home the ...

Penguins Sidney Crosby, James Neal and Paul Martin skated and shot pucks around before the Pittsburgh Penguins practice today. Crosby wore a full face shield. This is a great sign that Crosby may be ready to come back soon. It is also good sign that James Neal may not have a severe concussion. Paul Martin had surgery to repair a broken bone in his hand yesterday. It would...
When Penguins GM Ray Shero acquired veteran Jussi Jokinen from Carolina at the trade deadline for a conditional draft pick it almost seemed like an afterthought. After all, Shero had spent the previous week snatching up three of the hottest commodities on the market—Jarome Iginla, Brenden Morrow, and Douglas Murray.
But make no mistake—Jokinen’s the real deal. A quick, versatile...
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) -- Brenden Morrow scored two goals to lift the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-1 victory over the Florida Panthers on Saturday.
Kris Letang also scored for Pittsburgh and Marc-Andre Fleury made 25 saves. Morrow also had an assist.
Pittsburgh center Evgeni Malkin missed the game with an upper body injury. The Penguins were also without Sidney Crosby, who is out indefinitely...
Pic of Sidney Crosby skating with a protective face mask, from the Penguins' Facebook page.
According to the Pittsburgh Penguins' official website, Sidney Crosby, James Neal and Paul Martin all skated before practice.
Nothing new on Evgeni Malkin yet, but he is wearing a t-shirt and shorts. We repeat, a t-shirt and shorts. We'll stay with this story all day if we have to!
Numerous reports flowing in via Twitter that Malkin will miss tonight's game in Florida due to a serious sunburn.

By Matthew Albright Captain Sidney Crosby has been sidelined off the ice since taking a puck to the face in a game against the Islanders on Saturday, March 30, 2013. Crosby had oral surgery and was on a strict all-shake diet. However, his “surprise visit” to Florida during the road trip gave hope that he may [...]
Hyped Up Hockey is happy to introduce and welcome our newest writer Matthew Albright! Matt will primarily be writing about the Penguins, but as he is an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, he is flexible to write about all things Burgh related. He has been writing for us for about a week now, so it is [...]
The rink managers at the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Console Energy Center seem to have a sense of humor. They copied the iconic Notre Dame motto “Play Like A Champion Today” and made their own. When you Zamboni the ice, it’s commonly known as “flooding” the ice, hence the motto.
Speculation is a killer. Before the game some members of the media speculated Evgeni Malkin had a sunburn:
In Molinari's defense he may have been joking, and he wasn't the only one.
But it turned into this:
'sunburn' is now trending in #Pittsburgh trendsmap.com/us/pittsburgh

By Matthew Albright 4/13/2013 Following a huge 6-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Pittsburgh Penguins are set to face the Florida Panthers on Saturday at 7:30 P.M. This match-up will close out the Penguins’ three-game road trip. In the match-up against the Lightning, the Penguins received offensive power from familiar faces, sleeping giants, and [...]
from Mike Zeisberger of the Toronto Sun,
Here is a look, in no particular order, at 10 of the more prominent UFAs who are poised to hit the market.
1. F Jarome Iginla, 35, Penguins
Iginla’s streak of 11-consecutive 30-goal seasons is about to come to an end, but he could still provide some pop and leadership even in this, the downside of his career. Interesting to see...
The Pittsburgh Penguins are good. The Florida Panthers are bad. I could end this preview now and it would probably be sufficient to describe what is going to happen tonight. The brilliant folks who write the schedule for the NHL should probably stop giving Florida home games by about mid-season at this point. There will…
Pittsburgh Penguins (31-10-0) @ Florida Panthers (13-21-6)
ROOT, SUN - 7:30 pm/et
BB&T Center - Sunrise, FL
It's the 1st-place team in the Eastern Conference against the 15th-place team. Will the Pens stay focused against a weaker opponent?
Season Series: 1-1-0
Last meeting that counted: February 26, 2013. Penguins lost 6-4.
A funny thing happened after the Dallas Stars ditched veteran forwards Brenden Morrow, Jaromir Jagr and Derek Roy to clear payroll space and add future assets. They started winning games. A five-game streak has vaulted the Stars into eighth place in the Western Conference and squarely into the playoff sprint. Who knew that trade deadline sellers could also become winners? Stars general...
Rewind back to the end of the Flyers series last season. What would your brain have done if you could've seen the Pens' stat lines in this game? Jussi Jokinen: 2G, 1A. Jarome Iginla: 2A. Brenden Morrow: 1A. Douglas Murray: 1A. wtf.
Three things about this game.
1. The Pens are the deepest they've been since the '09 Cup run.
2. Tampa Bay sucks.
