RED ALERT: Varlamov takes it in stride

The Washington Capitals training camp is underway. Haven't been able to get much updating done because of the Redskins roster finalization and season kickoff, but we are back with Red Alert. The rookies reported to Camp on Monday, veterans report on SEPT 12. The story right now is Semyon Varlamov. Recently, HC Bruce Boudreau named Jose Theodore the starter, despite Varly tajking over the Net int he NHL playoffs ffor the Caps. It really serves two purposes. One, it is unclear whether Varlamov is ready to fill a full time starting role, lookign at a stamina view point. Second, Boudreau is sending a message to Varly that he must EARN the job and not just be handed the job. Not going to go too far into this. Varlamoc is by far the best goalie ont he team and will be starting soon enough. Added Varlamov via an interpreter: "I took [the news] really well and calm.
