PLAYERS: Darren Helm
TEAMS: Detroit Red Wings
Detroit Red Wings center Darren Helm needed 20 stitches to close a cut when he was hit by a puck in the face during pregame warmups Monday against Nashville. Helm would not disclose which of his teammates shot the puck, but he played for 14 minutes and took a regular shift killing penalties. "I don't know if I'm allowed to, I'm not going to sell out one of my teammates," Helm said. "But he had a good game, though." Helm has four goals and eight assists in 35 games this season.

Red Wings-Blues quick take: statement made

The Detroit Red Wings dug a 2-0 deficit for themselves for the 3rd time over the past 4 games, and after Stephane Auger yielded what had seemed to be yet another case of an unearned break by finding a way to not give a goaltender a quick whistle in a game where the Blues had hacked, whacked, hooked, held, cross-checked, grabbed and groped their way to a no less unearned and seemingly...

The call on the ice stands: Datsyuk says it’s a goal

The Detroit Red Wings broke open their game against Nashville via a wraparound goal from Pavel Datsyuk which referee Chris Rooney did not rule as having snuck under Pekka Rinne’s right pad…But the linesmen overruled the Rooney, and while the “situation room” replays were inconclusive, let’s just say that Pavel Datsyuk’s emphasis on insisting that the goal was good helped: .

Wings and 29 Other Teams Interested in Free-Agent Prospect

from By Rhys Richards (@RREsq) The Detroit Red Wings began their Christmas week in western Canada on a high note for by beating the young, increasingly confident Edmonton Oilers. Detroit’s strong start quickly turned for the worse, however, as they lost the next two games to the Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames. Despite a less than successful 1-2 road trip, a hit...

The Real Pavel

I decided that I wanted to write an article about Pavel Datsyuk, he's one of those players that you just want to know more about. He was drafted in the 6th round (171st) of the 1998 Draft. Sure teams find steals in the late rounds, Andrei Markov was picked 162nd, Michael Ryder 216th in the same draft. The amazing thing about Datsyuk is he was eligible for the 1996 draft...
