After learning that talented Columbus forward Rick Nash had the Red Wings on his approved list of trade destinations, the Red Wings reportedly made “a hell of an offer” to the Blue Jackets. This according to Mlive.com’s Ansar Khan who cited a person with knowledge of the situation. However no counter offer was given to the Wings by Columbus GM Scott Howson and there isn’t believed to be any dialogue going back and forth between the two teams. This really isn’t surprising and you can probably assume that Howson isn’t going to trade his most prized asset to a division rival that has dominated his team since their inception during the 2000-2001 season. As far as what Detroit offered Columbus isn’t known but Howson recently told TSN’s Geno Reda that he is seeking two NHL ready forwards since he’s happy thus far with his defense. If Ken Holland was abiding by Howson’s demands to other teams could Filppula and Johan Franzen (along with other prospects and a draft pick) for Nash? You wou...

Report: Red Wings Make 'Hell of an Offer' for Rick Nash

The Blue Jackets have been asking for the world in exchange for Rick Nash, and no one has taken the bait. The Red Wings apparently aren't giving up. The Red Wings made the Blue Jackets "a hell of an offer" for Nash, a source with knowledge of the situation told Ansar Khan of MLive.com. Well then. That's reason for optimism, right? Not so fast. According to Khan...

Khan: Rick Nash won’t come to the Red Wings because Columbus can’t stomach the thought

Via RedWingsFeed, I believe this counts as a mid-July blockbuster: According to MLive’s Ansar Khan, the Red Wings did their very best to attempt to acquire: the superstar forward, but the Columbus Blue Jackets simply wouldn’t do business with their self-proclaimed arch-rival: The Red Wings made “a hell of an offer’’ to Columbus for Nash, according to a person with knowledge...

Boston Not a Likely Destination For Nash

Rick Nash trade rumors have been swirling since the trade deadline last season, but no deal has been made yet. As much as I would love to see Rick Nash in a Bruins uniform, it just isn’t going to happen.  Columbus wants way too much in return for their superstar forward, and I do not think the Bruins are willing to give up that...

Red Wings morning report: more about Quincey, Nash, Doan and CBA stuff

With MLive’s Ansar Khan’s Rick Nash bombshell dropped before someone’s internet service went out last night, we’re shifting back to more pedestrian Red Wings news this morning with more discussion about Kyle Quincey and Justin Abdelkader’s contracts. The Free Press’s Helene St. James reports that the Wings will have to submit legal briefs of their stance against Quincey...

Shane Doan, Rick Nash Would Be Great Fits With Bruins, But Prices to Get Them Make Coming to Boston Unlikely

While the early indications from the labor talks weren't especially encouraging with the owners raising fears of another lockout after opening the proceedings with a provocative set of draconian demands, the Bruins continued to put the finishing touches on the roster they hope will take the ice on time this fall. Veteran defensemen Aaron Johnson and Garnet Exelby were added to...

Report: Bruins 'Not in on' Rick Nash, Bobby Ryan Sweepstakes

Bruins fans shouldn't expect Rick Nash or Bobby Ryan to be donning Black and Gold any time soon. The Bruins are "not in on" the Nash and Ryan sweepstakes, according to ESPN.com's Jimmy Murphy. According to Murphy, the Bruins and Ducks had "exploratory talks" regarding Ryan, but Boston general manager Peter Chiarelli made it known that David Krejci and...

Bruins Will Not Trade David Krejci For Bobby Ryan Or Rick Nash

One year after winning the Stanley Cup, the Boston Bruins may be mentioned in hockey circles more the following offseason, one in which the team was eliminated in a first round upset at the hands of the Washington Capitals. But while many people want Boston to make a lot of major moves to get the team back to the promised land, the Bruins feel as if they already have...

Shea Weber's possible Nashville departure could cap off an off-season of gifts for the Blues

Take heart, Blues fans having a panic attack over whether or not the Blues' UFA/RFA dealings have been sufficient. The Central Division won't be the same next year... call it some fortuitous addition by subtraction for the Blues. Shea Weber signed a 14 year ginormous offer sheet from the Philadelphia Flyers last night, and if the Nashville Predators can't/won't match...

Chiarelli Says No to Nash or Ryan Trade

ESPN-  There has not been a lot to talk regarding the Bruins this summer, but one rumor has picked up steam in recent weeks: That the Bruins and Ducks might have been discussing a swap involving center David Krejci and winger Bobby Ryan. I first heard of this idea to ship Krejci off to Anaheim for Bobby Ryan a few weeks ago on 98.5 The Sports Hub. I blogged about how I thought...

Aaron Johnson Adds Depth, Experience to Bruins Blue Line, Could Be Fit for Seventh Defenseman Role

Rick Nash remains in Columbus, but Boston did make a solid acquisition on Wednesday as the Bruins added more depth to their blue line and may have found the veteran to round out their defense corps with the signing of Aaron Johnson. Johnson, who spent last season with Columbus, signed a one-year, two-way deal worth $650,000 at the NHL level and $105,000 if he plays in the AHL. Johnson...

Red Wings evening news: Wings were in the Weber sweepstakes, but weren’t talking with Nashville

Updated with some rather depressing takes on the Weber sweepstakes from Khan and Pleiness at 7:11 PM: While I’m more than willing to give Ken Holland and the Red Wings’ management A’s for effort in terms of knocking on every trade and free agent possibility’s door, aggressively, over the last month, and as mentions of that fateful Carolina Hurricanes offer sheet to Sergei...

Report: Shea Weber signs offer sheet with Philadelphia Flyers

Nashville All-Star defenseman Shea Weber reportedly has agreed to a 14-year offer sheet worth at least $100 million with the Philadelphia Flyers."TSN's Darren Dreger reported the deal early Thursday morning via his Twitter account. NHL Free Agency: Weber Signs Offer Sheet With Flyers; More Teams Drop Out of Nash Sweepstakes

Sam Carchidi at Philly.com reports that the Flyers signed Shea Weber to a 14-year offer sheet in the $100 million neighborhood last night. The Predators have seven days to match. If the Preds don't match, the Flyers would have to give Nashville four first-round picks. Although that compensation package might not be 100% correct as it could be two firsts, a second and a third round...
