Way better effort tonight by the Wings. Not the result we wanted, but we're getting there. If the Wings keep playing like that, they'll be fine.

Jump for the recap:
Conklin was very good out there. I'm not surprised. He's played very well in Grand Rapids and I knew he'd be ready if the call came.

The PP was better tonight. Good movement and some decent shots, but they didn't get enough chances. Refs let them(Rangers) play tonight.

Injuries were the difference tonight. Pavel Datsyuk was simply amazing out there, but he had Bert and Hudler on his line and they did EVERYTHING in their power to lose pucks. I don't remember the last time Bert or Hudler looked this bad and they both did it on the same night and on the same line.

I despise NBC. Troll them on twitter, if you have a minute. I think they blocked me back when I was giving them hell for employing a child abuser.

Ty Conklin. Damn it, I wanted him to win this game. He frigging deserved it. He had more heart than anyone tonight.

I hope that every ref that ever called interference against Holmstrom just because he's Holmstrom gets cheated on by their wives. Any single NOHS readers out there? Get to work. There's a lot of them...

As pissed as I was at the way this game ended, and how vomit-inducing the Ranger fans were as Edzo explained the last goal, I smiled. Not a happy smile, but an I-see-something-dangerous-and-I-want-to-play-with-it smile. I saw fire. Conklin was pissed. He didn't just slump his shoulders and cry. He rushed off the ice, hopefully to destroy something expensive. Stuart slammed his stick on the ice. He was pissed off at himself. He expected better of himself. Heart. It's returning, friends, and it's going to be delicious.

NOHS Three Stars of the Game:

First Star: Zetterberg. A goal, but so many great chances created off of his beautiful stick.

Second Star: Filppula/Nyquist. Nyquist is going to be amazing once he gets past being a rookie. And Filppula has been great even during this slump.

Third Star. Pav. There were times when he was competing against 5 Rangers and 4 Red Wings and he was owning all 9.

NOHS Favorite Moment of the Game: All the fire and rage after the game. Carolina is boned.

Next game is Saturday against Carolina. Puck drops at 7:00 EST. I turn 31 that day (I know you care) and I will be doing the pregame again.
