GLENDALE, AZ - OCTOBER 22: Tomas Holmstrom #96 of the Detroit Red Wings celebrates with Henrik Zetterberg #40 after Holmstrom scored a first period power play goal against the Phoenix Coyotes during the NHL game at Jobing.com Arena on October 22, 2009 in Glendale, Arizona. That just happened. Detroit scored early and often and beat the Wild 6-0. This was an all around great effort by the entire team.

Full recap after the jump:

It was only the Wild, but Detroit played outstanding without their two best players. Filppula and Zetterberg were on fire tonight. That last goal by Hank was one of the best passing plays I've seen this year. Val's second goal WAS the best sustained pressure I've seen the Red Wings produce all year.

Mule missed the net a few times, but he's getting his chances. He's not putting in much effort, though. That's the only negative thing I will say tonight.

Detroit had four defensemen under 30 tonight. I believe so, anyways. Kindl, Smith, Quincey and White are all under 30. They all played pretty good out there. So much for the Wings being too old.

Howard hardly faced any shots tonight, but he was there when he needed to be. I think he got a break on the goal being waived off, but he deserved a break, in this blogger's opinion.

Speaking of breaks: The Wings did get away with a few calls tonight. I have a feeling the Wild were being punished for some of the plays they made in Montreal. I have not seen video, but apparently Clutterbuck got away with a major dive in Montreal. If you find a video, let me know.

Helm has more chances to score than... other people who have a lot of chances to score. I say this all the time and he proves me right all the time: Helm has a miserable time scoring when he's on a breakaway and has time to think, but when the puck just finds him and he shoots, he scores. But don't get mad at him; he isn't one of our most valuable players because of his hands. Oh, and a new tradition I'm starting with my recaps: Everytime Helm scores, I'm posting the barmaid picture.

You're welcome.

Bert left early. We'll keep you posted as we learn more.

NOHS Three Stars of the Game:

First Star: Val Filppula. 2G 1A tonight. Big hit at center ice, too. More of a collision, but he stayed up and the Wild player didn't. GWG less than a minute into the game.

Second Star: Henrik Zetterberg. 1G 2A. Besides the 3 points, Hank was playing hard and getting open. Forechecking like crazy.

Third Star: Nick Kronwall. 3A in the game.

Honorable Mention: Brendan Smith. First career goal. Also has a great family. If you recorded the game, watch his mom's dedication to getting the perfect shot of him skating on the ice for the 3 stars, then see her awesome reaction when she realizes she didn't get the shot she wanted.

NOHS Favorite Moment of the Game: Mursak and his fan club. Not only were they hilarious, Mick kept making jokes about how much beer they were drinking. Watching FSD is like watching the Wings with your best friends; even if you're all alone.

If the Wings play like that every night, they won't be losing many games. Next game is Sunday against a team I don't recall ever hearing of. I guess they play in some town west of Indiana. Yawn. Puck drops at 4:00 EST.
