Sutherland was hurt just over 5 1/2 minutes into the first period when he was struck by a deflection off a slap shot from Buffalo's Jordan Leopold. Sabres rookie D McNabb demoted to AHL Rochester

The Buffalo Sabres have demoted defenseman Brayden McNabb to AHL Rochester, where the rookie will have the benefit of getting more playing time after missing eight games with a concussion. Coach Lindy Ruff announced the move Thursday, saying McNabb has been cleared to play. Ruff says McNabb was sent down to allow him to get additional ice time. That's unlikely to happen in...

What’s Wrong With The Buffalo Sabres?

Last season the Buffalo Sabres finished in the seventh seed in the East Conference with a 43-39 record with 10 regulation tie points. Many thought they looked like a team ready to make a big step toward being a solid Stanley Cup contender when new owner Terry Pegula opened the purse strings and signed free agents Christian Ehrhoff to a ten year contract worth a total of $40 million...

Habs/Sabres, Comebacks, Rumors and More

Morning puck fans! Well, that was rough last night. The 3-1 score, which featured an empty netter for Patrick Kaleta, is not quite indicative of the game. With the Sabres getting 40 shots in the contest, it was never really that close. Thank goodness Carey Price was not playing looking towards the glass or it could have been far worse. Meanwhile, elsewhere in the league...

Sabres 3, Canadiens 1

Paul Gaustad had a goal and two assists to lead the Buffalo Sabres to a 3-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night. Ryan Miller made 27 saves for Buffalo, which won its second straight road game following a 12-game losing streak away from home. Gaustad set up Ville Leino's fourth goal 4:01 into the second period to tie it at 1. Gaustad beat Carey Price from the goalmouth...

GARTH: Grags Scratched; Miller Starts

Sacre bleu! Marc Andre Gragnani will be the odd man out tonight in his hometown of Montreal. Gragnani must be disappointed that his family and friends cannot see him play live in person. Too bad. Lindy needs wins, and he will ice the team that he feels gives him the best chance of leveraging two points from the Habs. Lindy has healthy choices in Regehr and Ehrhoff...

GARTH: Wanted: Goal Scorer

If we had a dollar for every "ping" and ""clunk" of iron we've heard this season from the Sabres, we'd all be very rich people. Goal scoring, and, the lack thereof, is killing the Buffalo Sabres right now. How the Hell do the Sabres shutout the Rangers for 65 minutes, and still lose the game in a shootout? That game should've ended 0-0....

Sabres, Habs chirp about who got their asses kicked more by the bWo

You know ****'s bad when your chances of making it in the playoffs are in the gutter. But **** gets downright hilarious when those teams start using the Boston Bruins as a centering point for their trash talking.Last night our old friends the Buffalo Sabres and the Montreal Canadiens faced off and things got a little intense towards the end of the game. Some choice words were...

Miller logs second straight win as Sabres down Habs

MONTREAL (AP) Paul Gaustad had a goal and two assists to lead the Buffalo Sabres to a 3-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night.

Hab's winning again...

Here is the latest dust up on the ice. This time the Montreal Canadians players are whining and complaining about something that the Buffalo Sabres forward Paul Gaustad said on the ice, and after further review, it would appear that Max Pacioretty said something stupid to Gaustad first and got a response and got a quick response back. In my opinion it sounds like Pacioretty got PWND...

Sabres rookie defenseman McNabb sent to AHL

The Buffalo Sabres have demoted defenseman Brayden McNabb to AHL Rochester, where the rookie will have the benefit of getting more playing time after missing eight games with a concussion.

Buffalo Sabres (20-24-5) at Montreal Canadiens (19-21-9), 7:30 p.m. (ET)

The Sabres and Canadiens both won their final games before the All-Star break and the disappointing Northeast Division foes will try to keep heading in the right direction when they clash tonight at Montreal's Bell Centre.
