Found March 15, 2013 on The Majors Detroit:
According to Kukla’s Korner (who cites sources in Detroit), Red Wings super star forward Pavel Datsyuk will return to Russia after the 2013-2014 season when his current deal with Detroit expires. Pavel Datsyuk turns 36 on July 20th, 2014.  That birthday will be celebrated a few months after the last minutes of hockey he’ll ever  play for the Detroit Red Wings.  Next year will be his last in the NHL and that’s according to a very reliable source in Detroit, someone close to the organization and entrenched in regional hockey programs. Why? Datsyuk wants to go home.  We all understand that.  But according to this source, a guy who skates with at least one recently-retired Red Wing and whose family is a staple in the Michigan hockey world, it’s not just the lure of mother Russia. The Kukla’s Korner report goes on to say that it’s Datsyuk’s desire to show off his skills (while he still has them) in the KHL which is based in his home country of Russia. This desire too could be brought on ...

Source in Detroit: Datsyuk’s Got One Year Left

Pavel Datsyuk turns 36 on July 20th, 2014.  That birthday will be celebrated a few months after the last minutes of hockey he'll ever  play for the Detroit Red Wings.  Next year will be his last in the NHL and that's according to a very reliable source in Detroit, someone close to the organization and entrenched in regional hockey programs. Detroit Red Wings prospect has Tron-like video

Tomas Jurco is a hot prospect for the Detroit Red Wings and is currently playing for their AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapid Griffins. The Griffins are showcasing his talent with this awesome video that includes music from Nine Inch Nails, visuals similar to the Tron movies, and a glow puck that is nothing like that piece of crap that Fox tried to pawn off on us years ago. NORTHERN...

Red Wings snap skid with OT win

Pavel Datsyuk scored at 3:39 of overtime to give Detroit a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Friday night, snapping the Red Wings' three-game skid. Valtteri Filppula and Niklas Kronwall scored in regulation for Detroit, and Jimmy Howard had 30 saves. Taylor Hall and Sam Gagner had the Oilers' goals, and Devan Dubnyk finished with 25 saves. On the game-winner, Datsyuk...

Big Name Talk

from Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail, Even after Brian Burke’s departure as GM, the Leafs still would love to put Perry’s truculence and testosterone in the lineup. But you can’t rule out Detroit either, a team that bid for Suter last summer and came up short. The Red Wings have money to spend and Perry would give them the same qualities that Brendan Shanahan did...

Red Wings-Canucks game-day updates: Wings will have to make due without Kyle Quincey for a while

Updated 5x at 4:19 PM: The Red Wings will hope to build off of their 3-2 OT win over Edmonton when they face the Vancouver Canucks tonight (10 PM EDT, FSD Plus/CBC/NHL Network U.S./WXYT AM, and Danny Cleary will appear on the CBC's After Hours), but the Free Press's Helene St. James and MLive's Ansar Khan report that they will do so without the services of Kyle Quincey...

Jeff Petry scores on his own team against Detroit Red Wings

Late in the third period the Edmonton Oilers were up 2-1 when the Detroit Red Wings went on the powerplay.  The Red Wings had been struggling to get scoring chances all night, but after Niklas Kronwall fired a shot on net the rebound kicked right out to Oilers defenseman Jeff Petry.  Petry, like many defenseman before him, wanted desperately to clear the puck out of the zone but...

GDT - Game 28: Red Wings (12-10-5) at Oilers (10-11-5) 9:30

The Wings take their horrendous 3-6-2 road record to EDM tonight trying to snap their current 0-2-1 skid; which has seen them fall out of playoff position.  DET find themselves 9th in the WC, only 3 pts from 4th position, and only 5 pts from 15th. It has been quite some time since the Wings were fighting just to try to get into the playoffs.  There is much angst among the 19...

Red Wings Recap: 3.13.2013

This game featured a strange pre-game show on Red Wings Live. The crew thought they’d try different things to “power up” the Red Wings Powerplay, and came to the conclusion they would achieve this by tossing different appliances on the desk. Things that contain power, was their logic, I believe. Really there should only be batteries, generators, and motors, but appliances?...

Wings’ Post Practice Update

Someone in George's neighborhood cut an optic fiber line that feeds his ISP, so you have me again. from Ansar Khan of Mlive, The Detroit Red Wings had what coach Mike Babcock called a quick, efficient 30-minute practice Thursday, as they tried to purge from their system the third-period meltdown from the night before. The Red Wings allowed three unanswered goals in...

Red Wings-Oilers quick take: I’m not sure what that was, other than Datsyukian

Updated at 12:28 AM: The news on Kyle Quincey's cheek is not good. The Detroit Red Wings looked down, out and plain old lost afer giving up first and second goals against the Edmonton Oilers (see: Taylor Hall splits everyone, and Jonathan Ericsson's stick getting grabbed yields an easy rebound tap-in for Sam Gagner). The team seemed out of sorts, skating on the wrong side...

Red Wings-Flames wrap-up: ‘disturbing’ is the right word to describe this loss

The Detroit Red Wings flew to Edmonton after their 5-2 loss to the Calgary Flames, and after a third-period brain fart of epic proportions, and given that the Wings have gotten all of 1 point out of three games against the worst of the West in Columbus and Calgary, there was no reason to stick around. The Wings will be out of the playoff pack in terms of the standings by the time...

The F**K You Fantasy POTN (3/13)

This really is happening again. How could anything go wrong on a night where only three games were played? For that answer we have enlisted the help of the Detroit Red Wings. Without further adieu, here is our presentation of shame. ======================================================== Jonas Gustavsson -- G -- Detroit Red Wings Congratulations! You really...

Red Wings Try To Build On Latest Win

Matchup: Detroit Red Wings vs. Vancouver Canucks Venue: Rogers Arena, Vancouver, British Columbia Time: 10:00 PM EST Television: Detroit- FS-D+; Vancouver- CBC; National- NHL Network   It took three periods plus another 3:40 of the overtime, but the Detroit Red Wings (13-10-5, 31 points, 5th place Western Conference) ended their three game winless streak to begin the second half of [...]

Red Wings-Oilers wrap-up: an old-school, ‘pull victory from the jaws of defeat’ Wings win

The Red Wings flew to Vancouver for tonight's game against the Canucks (10 PM EDT, FSD Plus/CBC/NHL Network U.S./1270 AM) somewhat remarkably sitting in fifth place in the Western Conference standings and 5 points instead of 1 point up on the Edmonton thanks to a third-period comeback and some Datsyukian thievery en route to a 3-2 OT win over the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers...

Recap 3.15.2013

Garbage game against an inferior team whom we have a history of dominance against of late. But if Chicago’s streak could come to an end, our “streak of brilliance” is in just as much danger. Pavel Valerievich had other idea, however. Wings beat the Oilers 3-2 in Overtime (great to avoid the shootout) on a Datsyukian Deke and now have just 1 regulation loss in their last 26...
