The Philadelphia Flyers' battered defense took another hit recently. Flyers defenseman Andreas Lilja had hip surgery last week and may not return to action until December, according to Swedish newspaper Helsingborgs Dablad. CSNPhilly.com also reported Lilja could be out of action for up to four months. The Flyers recently lost defenseman Andrej Meszarosto indefinitely because of an Achilles injury suffered during offseason workouts. Chris Pronger also remains out indefinitely after missing nearly all of the 2011-12 season with concussion-related issues. Lilja, 37, told the Swedish paper he had a degenerative hip condition. "I've had problems with my hip for a couple of years and usually the pain goes away during the offseason, but not this year," Lilja told the paper. Lilja, who had six assists last season, said he opted for surgery, sacrificing part of the 2012-13 season so he could extend his career.
