The Carolina Hurricanes are looking to trading Tomas Kaberle according to a report on ESPN.
The newly acquired defenseman signed in the offseason to a three year deal for 12.75 million dollars. The four-time NHL all-star however is not cutting it with the ‘Canes GM Jim Rutherford, who ESPN reported as he was “desperate” to get rid of Kaberle.
Through the first 17 games Kaberle has a mere four assists and a plus/minus of -5. Kaberle was traded to Boston last season from the Maple Leafs for a 1st and 2nd round pick, but the Hurricanes desperateness to get rid of Kaberle may not help them get what they need.
Kaberle did help the Bruins win their first Stanley Cup in almost 40 years last season, he could be invited back to Boston as the Bruins have two former Canes on their roster with Joe Corvo and Dennis Seidenberg.
The Maple Leafs could also be a destination for Kaberle who has played over ten seasons in Toronto. The Hurricanes have a Toronto connection as Jay Harr...

Fighting spirit needed from Hurricanes
Raleigh -- The Carolina Hurricanes showed some fight on Monday. Literally. But fight alone wasn't enough to overcome the Philadelphia Flyers.
And, quite frankly, fight isn't going to right a ship that veered off track nearly a month ago, and is caroming off massive waves as it navigates the treacherous waters of the NHL. Hence, the Canes have lost six of its last eight games...
'Canes Insider: 3rd period woes continue
The Hurricanes have had a series of third-period mishaps. And these have created serious problems.
It's not blown leads that have been the problem, but certainly opportunities that have been squandered. Once there's a snag late in the game, the Hurricanes seem unable to recover.
"It seems like all these games we're in it going to the third," winger Zach Boychuk...
Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 11/14/11 @ Hurricanes
PREVIEW 8:00 AM EST
After the final game of their southern road trip, the Flyers (9-4-3) will look to bring 5 of 6 possible points back to Philadelphia. First, they must defeat the Carolina Hurricanes (6-8-3). Tonight's game starts at 7 PM and will be broadcast locally on CSN Philly.
This is the second of four meetings between the clubs this season. On Oct. 29, the Flyers...
Controversial hit hounds two of Staals
Carolina center Eric Staal is regarded as one of the NHL's best players, even though he has gotten off to a miserable start this season. Staal entered the Hurricanes' game against the Penguins Saturday night at the RBC Center with three goals and two assists along with a league-worst plus-minus rating of minus-16, in 16 games.
RECAP: Don't Call It A Comeback. 'Cause It Wasn't. PENS LOSE.
The Pens were down 3-0 after two periods of play. It wasn't for lack of trying. Cam Ward let Malkin know this wasn't the 2009 Conference Finals. The Canes, meanwhile, were scratching goals onto the board. Jeff Skinner was everywhere. The Canes had lost 4 straight games, and three of those games saw the Canes have abysmal third periods that cost them wins. And it happened...
Hurricanes 5, Penguins 3
Eric Staal scored for the first time in a month and the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-3 on Saturday night.
Staal converted a rebound at 15:26 in the third period, pushing it past Brent Johnson to give the Hurricanes a 4-3 lead after they wasted a three-goal advantage. It was his fourth goal of the season and first since Oct. 18.
Chad LaRose added a breakaway...
Hurricanes ward off Penguins rally, 5-3
Carolina goalie Cam Ward was credited with 37 saves in the Hurricanes' 5-3 victory against the Penguins Saturday night at the RBC Center. Ten of those came during the first period. No more than, say, eight were sensational. Like when he rejected Steve Sullivan from point-blank range with his left pad.
Game 17 Preview: Penguins at Hurricanes
Pittsburgh Penguins (10-3-3) at Carolina Hurricanes (5-8-3)RBC Center, 7 p.m.TV: FS-Carolinas, ROOT Sports
Remember what I said yesterday about trying to be optimistic? The Canes are making it hard for me to do that. It's not just because they have lost five in a row and failed to score more than two goals in each of those games, but also the fact that injuries are piling on...
Game 18 Preview: Flyers at Hurricanes
Philadelphia Flyers (9-4-3) at Carolina Hurricanes (6-8-3)7 p.m. RBC CenterTV: FS-Carolinas, CSN-Philadelphia
I described the Canes last game against the Flyers as a "burn the tape" kind of game because of the disaster of a third period the Canes had. Seems that has been a recurring theme since then because Carolina's endured numerous third period meltdowns ever since...

We still love that arena picture. The Pens head down to Raleigh today for the second of a back-to-back after having five days off. Isn't NHL scheduling the best? There should be a decent pro-Pens crowd in the RBC Center tonight including our very own...

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Carolina Hurricanes – Game 17
That is what you witnessed if you watched the Penguins kick the crap out of the Stars last night. It may not have been evident by the score, but that’s what happened. The Pens snapped Dallas’ four game win streak last night, and allowed just one goal. The goal was actually a sort of strange [...]
