Future Hall of Fame winger Jaromir Jagr has come close to landing in Montreal before, and it might be this summer that he finally ends up donning a Habs sweater. According to TVA Sports (via the Toronto Sun), the 41-year-old forward has interest in joining the Canadiens. The free-agent forward has always had his eye on Montreal, according to his agent, former NHL defenseman Petr Svoboda. “Jaromir always wanted to play in Montreal,” Svoboda told TVA Sports, according to the Toronto Sun. “We discussed with [general manager] Marc Bergevin. The interest is mutual, but the decision is now up to the Canadiens.” Jagr was reportedly interested in joining the Canadiens last summer, but Jagr eventually landed in Dallas after Jagr was told the Habs were no longer pursuing him. Jagr was then traded to the Bruins at the trade deadline. In 45 games last season between Dallas and Boston, Jagr scored 16 goals and added 19 assists. He played as a second-line winger on the Bruins’ run to the Stanley Cup Final, although he didn’t score a goal in 22 playoff games. He did, however, chip in with 10 postseason assists.
