Back in August, Larry Brooks of the New York Post reported that the Rangers had offered Michael Del Zotto a contract in the $2.2 - $2.5 million per year range. However, Del Zotto's agent Mark Guy is now saying that report was false (via New York Times)... “I won’t get into what the negotiations were at prior to the lockout,” Guy said. “We never do, but I can tell you that the previous reports of an offer in that range are erroneous.” ...if the Rangers offer was below $2 million per year then I owe Del Zotto a huge apology because he is definitely worth more than that. Don't blame him for holding out for more. As far as the reason Del Zotto decided to sign with Rapperswil-Jona Lakers of the Swiss league after initially stated he wouldn't play overseas, his agent notes... “He is simply going to play in order to stay in ice shape and get game competition during the lockout.” Guy adds that Del Zotto’s signing with Rapperswil-Jona has no bearing on his con...

What to make of Del Zotto’s Swiss trip

As you probably will have heard by now Michael Del Zotto is the next Ranger to head over to Europe to get some game time. As Del Zotto laces up for Rapperswil-Jona of the Swiss league he’ll be going to a league that is better than advertised (despite not having the reputation of the Swedish league or the media power of the KHL) and will be joining a league that has evidenced plenty...

Thomas running out of time?

Can Thomas Jr follow his father in to the NHL? Time is ticking. It may seem incredibly harsh to suggest Christian Thomas’ time as a legitimate prospect is expiring. However such is the media scrutiny on each individual performance, the impatience of fans and media alike, not to mention the enviable depth the Rangers enjoy that it’s a very real possibility that Christian Thomas...

What do the Rangers have in Kyle Jean?

It’s fair to say that when Kyle Jean tried out for the Rangers almost every Ranger fan didn’t have an idea about the young try-out nor were expectations particularly high. After all, try outs come and go in their dozens and rarely does one stick with a club let alone make some noise. So its fair to say that despite a promising pre-season its come as a surprise to many that Jean...

Del Zotto Still Weighing Offer from Swiss Team

Jeff Klein at the New York Times reports that, despite earlier reports that he has signed, Michael Del Zotto is still weighing an offer to play with Rapperswil-Jona Lakers of the Swiss N.L.A. Del Zotto has until tomorrow to accept the offer... “Nothing is signed, and Michael is considering,” Del Zotto's agent Mark Guy said. “The offer from this club is good for...

Hagelin with minor injury; MSG to air more KHL games

First, I hope that everyone who reads this blog and all of your families are safe. Hurricane Sandy did a number on the tri-state area, and it was by far the worst storm we have ever encountered. I had a close call myself, as a tree that is (was) three feet from my bedroom window snapped, and the top half came crashing down, missing my apartment by about five feet. There was also...

Awesome. Hokej.cz reports that Stepan could arrive in Slovakia early next week. Remember to follow me on...

Hagelin Injures Shoulder

Hockey Expressen reports that Carl Hagelin injured his shoulder during Sodertalje's 4-2 victory yesterday. He was forced to leave the game in the third period, but the injury is said to be not that serious. ...i'd normally be ripping Bettman a new one right now, but to be honest, after seeing all the destruction and devastation from Hurricane Sandy the last few days...
