The recent contract signed by free agent Maxime Talbot and the Philadelphia Flyers may actually be illegal, according to Gord Miller of TSN.Talbot's new deal will see the winger earn $2.5 million and $2.25 million in the first two years, but just $1 million in each of the final two seasons. The league's salary cap rules state that the final two years of a contract cannot be worth less than half of either of the first two years of the deal.In order to accommodate the cap rules, Philadelphia will have to restructure Talbot's deal to make the fourth or fifth season worth at least $1.125 million. The NHL is also unlikely to penalize the Flyers for the violation.
