Justice has been served in Southern Florida. According to 10 News in Tampa, the Tampa Bay Lightning have fired the woman who had been playing the team's mascot, "Thunder Bug." The decision comes just a week after the mascot had an altercation with a Bruins fan. Thunder Bug irked a B's fan at the Tampa Bay Times Forum when she sprayed the fan with silly string. This prompted the Bruins fan to get out his seat and charge after the mascot. According to the report, team officials spoke with the fan on the concourse following the incident before allowing him...

  • The guy is a big freakin wuss! Come on!!!!!! Silly String, and he feels threatened? Did it mess up his hair, or makeup? ROTFLMAO!!!

They really should reinstate that mascot.....Just because some puss faced Bruins fan can't handle a little silly string. That is just pathetic.
  • This is hockey right? You mess me with you get punched in the face per hockey terms. Save the silly string for the ballet. I hate Boston, but like this guy.
  • He sucks too.
  • Haaaa, no need to start fighting over silly string bro. http://lionsdetroit.com
  • I guess the bug bugged him too much so they had to squash the bug flat, Poor poor bug, no more bug. She made a big splat in life.
  • I bet if he threw a hot dog to him there would of been no problem
  • did they revoke the man card of the bruins fan, i'm not even a fan of hockey but please .
  • That fan was Tim Thomas!
  • The mascot didn't do anything wrong. If I was the mascot, that fan would've ended up in a hospital for an emergency silly string extraction.
  • Ya except your a guy behind a keyboard trying to be tough so.....
  • I'd silly string you just for being a wanna be tough guy. He's a Boston fan at a Tampa home game. What does he expect, flowers and a hug?!?! Maybe he should go to a LA Dodgers game. He get his ticket punched for an ER visit.
  • If he wore a Bruin Jersey at a Flyer game he wouldn't be alive! Anybody for Bear meat ( a Bruin is a bear dum dum)
  • Mascots should not be spraying fans, with anything. Whether it was harmless or not, isnt the point.
  • WRONG, Wether it was harmless, or not, IS THE POINT! Are you going to argue that silly string is no different than pepper spray or acid? I HOPE NOT!!! The fact that it was harmless means EVERYTHING.
Mascots have ALWAYS been known to lightly harrass the opposing team. By the way, how many mascots shoot that T-shirt cannon at poeple? THIS WOMAN LOST HER JOB CAUSE THIS PUSS HAD TO COMPLAIN, ANYONE WHO THINKS MASCOTS SHOULDN'T HAVE FUN WITH THE FANS SHOULD STAY THE F@#K AWAY FROM A SPORTING EVENT. WATCH IT ON T.V.
  • Poor poor bug they squashed it flat.
  • Don't know what smoking policy is at this venue. But silly string is highly flammable. It only has to get close to a heat source to ignite.
  • ...and everyone knows there are so many open flame heat sources at a HOCKEY GAME...it's great for the ice...
  • Give him a break. Poor dear was probably having his period. You know how cranky the ladies can get.
  • A cranky lady Bruin Vs. a Lady Thunderbug put them on the ice and let them duke it out.
  • WRONG!! I paid my money to enjoy my seats, don't touch me period. Ask me if for a stunt you can silly string me, otherwise don't do it. I paid my money I have the right to be left alone. The guy didn't do anything wrong he got up and said leave me alone. In Argentina certain sections have ALWAYS know to throw piss on opponents, doesn't make it right.
  • You paid money for the seat in THAT crowded and excited place and you say leave me alone? Interesting.
Maybe you have a right to be lefe alone, but before you insist your rights, you should realize where you are.
  • Would that make him a piss ant?
  • The own team fired its own mascot because they knew she was wrong, not because he complained.
  • I've seen mascots piss fans off, throw stuff into stands and generally heckle the opposing fans. This mascot got fired only cause it was on film, and someone complained
  • and because he was wrong. So all those mascots you speak of didn't get fired?? You followed up and made sure it was the same person? Just because you've seen something doesn't mean it's right.
  • Silly string never hurt anyone what a piss ant
  • Since the fan was not cheering for the home team then the Mascot had no business spraying the fan.Taunt him or tease him but the mascot should never have touched him or thrown anything on him. Additionally, Silly String will stain clothes. I was at Mardi Gras in Nice, France several years ago where they sell thousands of cans of Silly String to everyone watching the parade. My wife and I had to have our clothes dry cleaned when we returned to get the stains out.
  • Made from a different company that is a very poor copy.
  • I used to have season tickets to the Seattle SuperSonics. I am bald. Since I sat in an aisle seat, the mascot would come by occasionally and play with my head, including using silly string to make a toupe' for me. The kids were loving it, and I am not ashamed of my head. It was all in good fun, and no harm was done. The fan should have taken it in stride. If he was offended, he should have spoken to the mascot and asked her to stop. Knocking her down from behind was cowardly and stupid.
  • +1 and well said.
  • Finally, the voice of reason. Thank you for common sense.
  • Hurry finally sanity in Florida. It's a miracle! Is the sky falling.
  • EXACTLY they made fun of you...the HOMETOWN fan. This is an opposing fan already in a hostel situation getting yelled at all game. And like you said it was all in good fun...for you. This guy didn't like it so he shouldn't have to deal with it. I guarantee if a regular fan did this, this guy would've have punched him and not just tipped her over.
  • Maybe he should of sprayed her with bug spray.
  • WTF obviously this ******* needs a sense of humor. He lost his cool over silly string. Silly string, really??? What a big flipping baby.
  • Get real...I certainly hope there was more at issue than a bit of playful silly string...the mascot player should sue for wrongful termination!
