Found July 26, 2012 on NY Rangers Blog:
In an interview with Jason Malloy of The Guardian, Brad Richards said this about the acquisition of Rick Nash..."It's what we need. He's one of the best scorers and power forwards in the league. He brings us size and goal scoring."...ya think? Besides Lundqvist, Richards has to be the happiest guy on the team as he has another stud winger to distribute the puck to while Gaborik recovers from his shoulder surgery. On the pressure adding a Rick Nash to the Rangers line-up brings..."We're not going to hide from any of that here in this city. We want to be better anyway, no matter what, but you add a guy like him for sure, the bull's-eye is going to be on us this year."...actually with the lack of hockey coverage in New York, they probably could hide from it.H/T to reader @lazydefense.Speaking of Richards, check out this schwag he received from Calvin Klein... ...probably the ugliest pair of sneakers I've ever seen. Bet CK wasn't sending him s...

How Tortorella’s system could change with Nash on board

With this week’s blockbuster trade, many are now wondering just how far the Rangers will go with the addition of Rick Nash.  While it’s still way too early to be penciling us in as front-runners to win the Cup, one thing we can do is look at how the Rangers might change from an x’s & o’s or “systems” perspective. Fortunately for John Tortorella, adding Nash doesn’t necessaril...

Yet again another summer where everyone’s eyes are on Ohio. I feel like almost every year the sports media has incited a riot of speculation among the citizens. A few years ago the hot topic of the summer was the decision of Lord Voldemort. This summer’s hot topic was Rick Nash. Is [...]

Ranger Nashion: Great Nash-pectations

Last year, it was Brad Richards who stole the spotlight in the free agency market when he signed his 9 year/$60 million dollar contract with the Rangers.  As word spread that he signed and the amount he signed for, immediately fans took to setting the bar high for Richards. After all, he’s won a Stanley [...]

Todd Cordell: Rangers Add Nash, Flyers Not Done, Merrill Decision Expected Soon & More

Yesterday the New York Rangers finally acquired forward Rick Nash after a pursuit that lasted much longer than it should. Here are some notes on how that impacts the New Jersey Devils, the Philadelphia Flyers big plans and more. - Before I get into this from a Rangers perspective and how it impacts the Devils, I want to first say this. The Columbus Blue Jackets didn't do as...

Rick Nash Trade: Why New York is Now Stanley Cup or Bust

Yesterday marked the beginning of a new journey, one that for the New York Rangers will include a Stanley Cup championship at the end of the 2012-13 season if things work according to plan. By pulling the trigger and acquiring Rick Nash for solid yet expendable players in Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov and Tim Erixon, Glen Sather has maintained key young players and added a stud—still...

Rick Nash: A New Start In The Big Apple

The drama between Rick Nash and the Columbus Blue Jackets finally ended on Monday with Nash, along with Steven Delisle and a 2013 third round pick being traded to the Rangers for Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, Tim Erixon and a 2013 first round pick. Columbus retains their third round pick if the Rangers reach the 2012-2013 finals. Assuming the season starts on time, let’s have...

Why Carlo Colaiacovo would make sense for Nashville…

While it’s true that the free agent pool is pretty barren, there is one name that could be a perfect fit for the Nashville Predators.Carlo Colaiacovo was a member of the St. Louis Blues for the past four seasons but that time seems to be over. The Toronto native is on the market and looking for a new club. More importantly, he’s looking for an opportunity to prove that his injury...

With inclusion of Erixon, maybe Scott Howson did better than we thought

There have been several reports that some variation of the package the Rangers sent to Columbus for Rick Nash on Monday was on the negotiating table for months before the deal was finally consummated.  But Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch, who is one of the more clued in reporters in the business, tweeted that defensive prospect Tim Erixon was in fact only added to the deal...

New Ranger Rick Nash’s Effect on The Eastern Conference

By Benjamin Woodward (@_BWoodward) After months of speculation and enough rumors to fill the HockeyyInsiderr’s twitter feed for an entire calendar year, Rick Nash has finally been traded. The former Columbus Blue Jackets captain was dealt to the New York Rangers on Monday in exchange for a package centered around two-way pivot Brandon Dubinsky. The complete deal looked like this...

Sather Now Turns Focus to Shane Doan

Although GM Glen Sather would not completely comply during yesterday's post-Rick Nash press conference and admit that the New York Rangers are heavily after free agent forward Shane Doan, the rumors that have made headlines the past few weeks do not deny the fact that the 35-year-old veteran is the next major target on Mr. Sather's list. While Doan is not entirely open to...

Replacing Dubinsky and Anisimov

When the Rangers acquired Rick Nash, they did so by dealing two roster players that played key roles on the bottom six forwards. Losing Brandon Dubinsky and Artem Anisimov may not look like much, especially when they are dealt for someone like Rick Nash. However, it does lead to the discussion of how to replace these players, especially Dubinsky, who was one of the Rangers top defensive...

NHL Referee’s: Behind the Stripes

A team is down by a goal in the third period with the animosity building as the minutes go by.  A breakdown in the defensive zone for the team ahead causes a scramble in front with players dancing around the net declaring a goal.  The puck may or may not have crossed the goal line.  Fans stand in an uproar as they applaud the goal they all thought they saw.  All the attention...

Bruins Unfazed by Eastern Rivals' Moves, Confident Keeping Core of Championship Team Intact Will Pay Off

BOSTON -- The Bruins have enjoyed a relatively quiet offseason. Just one year removed from winning the Stanley Cup and the wild celebrations that followed, Boston has focused on retaining the core of that championship team rather than shaking up the roster with any major trades or free-agent signings. But the Bruins recognize not all teams have adopted that approach, and they have...
