Rick DiPietro returned for the first time in over five weeks to lead the New York Islanders to a victory over the Florida Panthers 3-2.
DiPietro pushed aside 29 of the 32 shots that were sent his way to earn the victory in a shootout.

The biggest news to come out of the game was that Michael Grabner scored his 30th goal of the year, and coincidentally enough against the team that waived him in August.
Grabner joins Matt Moulson as the 30 goal scorers for the team, the first time the Islanders have had two since 2001.
DiPietro celebrated the win by jumping in the air, and I know more Isles fans than just me worried what was going to happen when he landed. Fortunately he did just fine upon landing and will be able to stay off the injured reserve for now.
PA Parenteau had a good night, scoring a goal in the third period and the shootout winner. Michael Haley scored a goal as well, his second of the year.
The Islanders now have a few days to spend in Florida before they play at Tampa Bay on Tuesday.
