The 2012 Karjala Cup was played last week between the countries of Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic and Russia. Four Nashville Predators were on the roster entering the international tournament, but only three Predators played. However, only one Predator made an impact in the Karjala Cup.   Finnish goalie Pekka Rinne played very well for his country. He was joined by fellow Predator Teemu Laakso, who made little impact by going to the penalty box once for slashing. The Vezina Trophy nominee played two of the three games, while Boston Bruins' goalie Tuuka Rask started the other. In Rinne's two games, he ended up with a 2-0-0 record by stopping 34 of 35 shots against Russia and 41 of 42 shots against Sweden. The Swedish forward Patric Hornqvist followed the footsteps of defenseman Teemu Laakso by making little impact in the tournament by getting a penalty. Alexander Radulov didn't play in the Karjala Cup, even though he was named on the Russian roster. According to Slava Malamud of Sport Express, Radulov didn't play because the coaches wanted see some "fresh faces" on the ice and due to a recent knee injury. The 2012 Karjala Cup winner was Czech Republic by defeating all three countries and going undefeated. Too bad Martin Erat isn't a part of the team.  The stop in the Euro Hockey Tour in the chase for the hockey champion of Europe is the Channel One Cup that takes place December 13-16.
