Fresh off a new two-year contract extension that was signed on Thursday, Los Angeles Kings defenseman Robyn Regehr decided to help out his team by scoring on his own goalie.  Robyn is affectionately known as “Ray” in LA and this was clearly a bonehead play. It may not be as bad as the own goal that occurred during the Germany-USA International Friendly, but this was still pretty bad.  Where on Earth did Regehr think he could clear the puck by swinging his stick at it like that?  There was literally no where it could go except between Jonathan Quick’s legs or off of his pads.  Just a brutal mental lapse that has cost the Kings dearly. Broadcast Blooper: KTLA doesn't know who Robyn Regehr is

Sure, he's just been signed to a two-year extension, and sure, you're a television station that's covering your local team as they get to the Western Conference Finals. But why let things like that get in the way of facts? Or, even more drastic, spelling names correctly? This isn't Brad Doty, but KTLA comes close. From our fellow Bloguin blog The Royal Half comes...

A forgettable night of firsts for Kings in 4-2 loss

It was a night of firsts for the Los Angeles Kings and Jonathan Quick, but the type of night the Kings would like to forget as the Blackhawks cruised to a 4-2 victory and now lead the best of seven series 2-0. The Kings had gone an NHL-record 34 consecutive playoff games without surrendering more than three goals in a game, but midway through the second period the Blackhawks built...

Los Angeles Kings make hysterical infographic for Los Angeles Media

The Los Angeles media has been brutal the past two years with their coverage of the Los Angeles Kings.  The Los Angeles media and even the media in general, often put up the wrong logo, or say the wrong name for players, or even confuse them with another team.  The Kings have apparently had enough and put out this hilarious (and informative) infographic for all of the media to...

Screengrab Snafu: The LA Kings still can't get no respect

This is real and it's spectacular… — LA Kings (@LAKings) June 2, 2013 Even though the Los Angeles Kings are the defending Stanley Cup champs, they still can't get no respect from any editor, publisher, online outlet, TV anchor, or news organization.  This poll from Yahoo is just the latest example of someone botching the Kings...

LA Kings must find offense in Game 2

It is really remarkable that the Los Angeles Kings are still around in the Stanley Cup playoffs. to this point the team is expecting goaltender Jonathan Quick to steal then the Stanley Cup. The Kings currently sit 12 out of the 16 teams who made the playoffs in goals per game with 1.93. I have news for the defending Stanley Cup champions if they continue at this rate there will be...

LA Kings stumble home to host surging Blackhawks

The Los Angeles Kings have been in all types of jams during the past two postseasons. Just a few weeks ago, they even escaped the same 0-2 deficit they're now facing in the Western Conference finals. ''We've been here, what, three weeks ago?'' forward Justin Williams asked, referring to the Kings' great escape in the first round against St. Louis. '...

Game 2 Western Conference Finals, Los Angeles Kings vs. Chicago Blackhawks

Playing just over 24 hours after the final horn sounded yesterday, the Blackhawks will try to keep home-ice advantage with another win. The Kings certainly don't want to go home down 0-2, so expect them to create more offensive opportunities while cutting down the chances they allowed Chicago yesterday. Puck drops a little after 8:00pm ET and can be viewed on NBCSN, TSN or RDS.

Dave Bolland levels Mike Richards with questionable hit late in 3rd period

Late in the third period the Los Angeles Kings were down 2-1 and were desperately trying to add the game-tying goal.  Kings forward Mike Richards had the puck down by the net and tried to tuck it short side when Chicago Blackhawks forward Dave Bolland crushed him.  Bolland left his feet on the play, raising the question as to why a penalty wasn’t called.  Bolland tried to use...

Quick chased as Kings fall to 0-2 vs. Chicago

CHICAGO (AP) -- Bryan Bickell and Michal Handzus scored on consecutive shots in the second period, and the Chicago Blackhawks chased goalie Jonathan Quick on their way to a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday night in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals. Andrew Shaw and Brent Seabrook also scored as the rolling Blackhawks grabbed a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven...
