Some quick Sabres trivia: Which two Buffalo forwards lead the team in average ice time since Ron Rolston replaced Lindy Ruff as head coach?
If you don’t have Steve Ott as one of your answers, you lose.
As a matter of fact, Ott and captain Jason Pominville are the only 2 forwards on the team under Rolston to average more than 20 minutes per game.
Some will tell you this is due to the fact that Ott plays on both special teams units.
I’ll tell you it’s because this talent-deficient Sabres team doesn’t have too many other options. Continue reading "Rolston’s Overuse Of Ott Exposes Sabres’ Scoring Woes"

Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller has a sinus infection, meaning backup Jhonas Enroth will start against the New York Rangers.
Interim coach Ron Rolston provided the update after Miller missed the pre-game skate Tuesday morning. Miller is healthy enough to serve in a backup role.
It's the second start in three games for Enroth. He allowed two goals in a 3-2 shootout loss at...
Back to the grind stone. Turn the page to the Rangers.

Tyler Ennis does not have a concussion after he was smoked face first into the glass by Wayne Simmonds at 4:47 of the opening period of the 3-2 Sabres loss in Philly.
Thanks for the update Buffalo Hockey Beat.

The word coming from Camp Pegula offered this frightening possibility: Regier surviving the season. Ken Sawyer, one of Pegula’s top advisors, has told people he believes Regier is a “hockey genius.” It’s enough to question Sawyer’s credibility, especially after Regier signed a contract extension for missing the playoffs.
The hit that Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds delivered to Tyler Ennis wasn’t a dirty or malicious one, even though it was from behind. The Buffalo Sabres forward was merely trying to turn and protect the puck, and he turned as Simmonds was hitting him. It was a bang-bang play and Simmonds didn’t have time to react. The referees were not going to call a penalty...

“It (ticks) you off, it gets you angry. It’s a cheap hit. The biggest thing is you do want to hurt them, you want to make them feel that. We were able to get two, but it doesn’t do that kind of...
The Sabres were without Tyler Ennis and Ryan Miller, are one of the worst teams in the league, and don’t play defense, so this game was supposed to be a cakewalk. It wasn’t, and while the Sabres were lucky to get out of the first ten minutes scoreless, they outplayed the Rangers in the second, forcing a lot of penalties. The Rangers played fairly well, but had some sloppy stretches...

The Buffalo Sabres are on life support, putting it mildly, when it comes to making the playoffs this year.
They entered the night just one point ahead of Florida for the lowest point total in the NHL, and seven points back of eighth place in the Eastern Conference. Needless to say, chances are ultra-slim,...
Per Dennis Bernstein tweet - "Kings and Sabres are in trade talks. A league source says LA will trade with Buffalo. We shall see."
Based on the mistakes that the overworked Rob Scuderi made last night as well as Darryl Sutter calling out Alec Martinez two nights ago and then benching him last night, Sutter might be bringing back an old familiar face in Robyn Regehr ...
Good luck trying to pry information out of the Buffalo Sabres organization these days. It would be easier to bust into Fort Knox to steal a king's ransom than it would be to abscond with trade secrets and inside information. With six weeks remaining in the regular season, many NHL teams have been circling over head in recent weeks. Like vultures in the arid desert, they are patiently...
