Defenseman Ryan Wilson and winger Alex Tanguay were the only Colorado Avalanche players to skate Monday before the entire team made its annual visit to Children's Hospital in Aurora. Wilson and Tanguay, both on injured reserve, skated hard under the guidance of assistant coaches Tim Army and Adam Foote.
Wilson is recovery from a back injury, but he shot the puck so hard he shattered a pane of glass behind a net at Family Sports Center. Tanguay is coming back from a knee injury and donning a brace on his left leg.
When both come off IR, the Avs will have to make a roster move. They are carrying 22 available players, with the roster limit at 23.
Meanwhile, center Matt Duchene on Monday revealed he was ill in last weekend's home-and-home set with the Minnesota Wild, in which Colorado won 3-1 on Friday in St. Paul, Minn., and 3-2 in a shootout Saturday in Denver. Duchene, the team's leading scorer, was not chosen to participate in the shootout by coach Patrick Roy.
