Buffalo Sabres center Jochen Hecht has been placed on the injured reserve list due to recurring concussion symptoms.
Hecht did not skate Monday for the second time in four days due to the symptoms stemming from a Sept. 18 collision with teammate Shaone Morrisson's helmet. He has yet to play this season.
"We've shut Jochen down at different times," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff told the Buffalo News. "If the doctors feel it's best to shut him down for a period of time, we'll shut him down. It's really in their hands.
"It isn't up to our medical staff, and it isn't up to Jochen. We're under some guidance, and we've got to trust what our people are telling us."
Hecht has been with Buffalo since 2002 and had 12 goals and 17 assists in 67 games last season.
