Buffalo Sabres defenseman Andrej Sekera filed for salary arbitration prior to Tuesday's deadline, his agent said.
Sekera remains a restricted free agent but is hopeful that a long-term deal can be worked out for him to stay with Buffalo. An arbitration hearing has not yet been set.
Sekera earned $1.25 million a season ago and his rights were retained after the Sabres tendered him a contract.
Sekera finished with three goals and 26 assists for a career-high 29 points last season.
