Buffalo Sabres defenseman Andrej Sekera has been ruled out against the Florida Panthers on Sunday because of a lower body injury. Coach Lindy Ruff said before the game that Sekera will miss at least a few days and potentially longer. Sekera was hurt Saturday, when he was struck in the leg by Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin's shot in the first period of a 6-1 loss at Montreal. He played a few more shifts before missing the final two periods. The Sabres are already missing veteran defenseman Robyn Regehr (lower body), who will miss his fourth straight game. Ruff said Regehr is expected to return to practice this week. The Panthers opened a four-game road trip minus defenseman Ed Jovanovski (lower body) and forward Scottie Upshall (lower body).

Would You Trade Thomas Vanek?

After reading the headline you’ve probably already made up your mind about the question I posed… “NO!” Case closed, end of the article, let’s move on. Well as much as it pains to me to even consider the notion, I feel that due to the circumstances surrounding the Buffalo Sabres we must at least entertain it. I’ve made no secret in past posts that Thomas Vanek is my favorite...

It May Be Time to Panic, For Everyone Except Vanek

The Buffalo Sabres let another game slip through their grasp yesterday, a 4-3 defeat at the hands of the previously winless on the road Florida Panthers.  There is plenty of blame to go around for the atrocious start to the season, but one person who should be absolved of all responsibility is Thomas Vanek.  In the loss to Florida Vanek tacked on 3 more points, adding to his league...

Panthers rally to beat Sabres in Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Defenseman Brian Campbell scored on the power play with 10:33 remaining to cap Florida's three-goal rally and the Panthers beat the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 on Sunday. Peter Mueller, George Parros and Shawn Matthias also scored for the Panthers, who won their first road game of the season and snapped a seven-game road winless drought (0-5-2) dating to last season...

Brandon Prust vs. Steve Ott

Nothing makes me happier, than watching Hab's tough guy Brandon Prust work the Sabres tough guy wanna be Steve Ott like a clown. I guess if Steve Ott wants to continue getting pounded on a regular basis, more power to him. Last season, Prust had 20 fighting majors playing for the New York Rangers. This season, Prust already has eclipsed the four fight mark in a little over two weeks.

Panthers 4, Sabres 3

By Mark Ludwiczak BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Florida Panthers overcame a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 on Sunday at the First Niagara Center. Brian Campbell scored the winning goal with 10:33 remaining in the final period. The former Sabre found himself with plenty of net to shoot at after Tomas Kopecky tried to deke in front of the Buffalo net. The puck found its way...

Talking Sabres With Panthers Insider

Thanks to Kevin Rogers and Florida Panthers play-by-play announcer (and Buffalo Sabres alumnus) Randy Moller for having me on the Panthers Insider Show on Miami's WQAM 560 earlier this morning to preview Sunday's Sabres-Panthers matchup.   Continue reading "Talking Sabres With Panthers Insider"
