Ehrhoff was hurt in Tuesday's game against the Washington Capitals after colliding with Troy Brouwer late in the first period. Sabres coach Lindy Ruff had no timetable for the return of Ehrhoff, who has five goals and 27 assists in 66 games. Buffalo has won five straight and...

Sabres Climb To A Top 8 Position

from Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News, Sabres owner Terry Pegula turned 61 Tuesday and got quite a birthday present as his team snuck back into the top eight with five games left. Buffalo is 7-0-2 in the last nine games and has won five straight for the first time since taking six in a row from Dec. 29, 2009 to Jan. 8, 2010. That 12-game road losing streak that ruined January...

Another Foligno thrives in Buffalo

It is a household family name in Buffalo, synonymous with what became a trademark leap. These days, the Foligno surname is a hot topic once again -- courtesy of 20-year-old Marcus. The latest second-generation Foligno -- after brother Nick of the Ottawa Senators -- has been the talk of western New York since he was called up in early March. In nine games, the Sabres rookie had six...

Drew Stafford scored a pair of goals as the visiting Buffalo Sabres extended their winning streak to five games and took over sole possession of eighth place in the Eastern Conference with a 5-1 win over the Washington Capitals on Tuesday. Ryan Miller turned aside a season-high 44 shots to win his fifth straight start. The Sabres moved two points ahead of Washington and closed within...

GARTH: Turnbull Back To Amerks

The Sabres have sent centre, Travis Turnbull, back to AHL Rochester. Turnbull was call-up last week as an emergency player when the Sabres lost Pat Kaleta and Nathan Gerbe to injury. In three games, with the big club, Turnbull had himself a productive first sortie in the NHL. He won a fight and scored his first NHL goal. He added a ton of jam and sand aper in Kaleta's absence...

GARTH: Miller Earns Silver While Sabres Keep Surging

The Sabres skated at 11am today for Tuesday night's "Brawl For It All" with the Capitals. Whiel they were on the ice, the NHL announced its "Stars of the Week" for the week of March 19-25. Ryan Miller has been named the NHLs Second Star Of The Week. Killer Miller led the Sabres on a four-game winning streak, that has elevated the team to an eighth...

Most Dangerous Bottom Playoff Seed Candidate

The longest currently active winning streak in the NHL right now belongs to the Buffalo Sabres. They have won their last five games. This streak puts them into eighth seed in the East Conference. They are currently two points up on the Washington Capitals who they just beat. I think they are a potentially dangerous team in the playoffs. In order to win in the playoffs all you...

Game Of The Night

from Dan Rosen of NHL.com, In Buffalo on Monday, you had Lindy Ruff talking as if Tuesday’s game against the Capitals is just another big one in a season of 82, even though the veteran coach with 563 career victories knows that the Sabres’ next game most definitely is not like the others. At roughly the same time in Washington, you had Dale Hunter comparing Tuesday’s showdown...

Surging Sabres to face Capitals in key showdown

Defenseman Robyn Regehr and the Buffalo Sabres have mounted a remarkable two-month charge to climb out of the cellar and into the playoff hunt. Now they have a recharged Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals standing in their way in a late-season showdown at Washington on Tuesday. Regehr can appreciate how much adversity - injuries, criticism, and a franchise-worst road skid - the Sabres...

Rapid Rewind: Buffalo Wings. Capitals 1, Sabres 5

Tuesday night at Verizon Center was the biggest game of the season for the Washington Capitals.  In fact, it could be argued that this was the biggest regular season game played inside the Phone Booth in four years. “[It’s going to be] like the seventh game of the playoffs,” said Dale Hunter earlier in the week. Boy, was it ever.  For this Capitals franchise, at least...

It was the fifth straight win for the Sabres, their longest streak since a six-game run in 2009-2010. Buffalo was in 14th place on Feb. 17 before going on a 14-2...

Sabres-Capitals Preview

Impressive as the Buffalo Sabres' two-month charge out of the cellar and into the playoff hunt has been, defenseman Robyn Regehr knows their job is far from complete. The Sabres remain on the outside looking in and now have a recharged Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals standing in their way in a critical late-season showdown at Washington on Tuesday. ''Well, we haven&...

Pominville is breaking the leadership mold

He has a gorgeous curl-and-drag. A marketing machine at one point for the league that looks for stars more so than astronomers or sleazy Hollywood agents. He's had life profiles in sports and culture magazines.  Whether it is Florida or Edmonton, the press boxes fill up a little bit fuller when he comes to town. There is, after all, an entire industrial complex -- foreign...
