Maybe it was the back to back afternoon/evening games – but the Buffalo Sabres let a two goal lead slip away tonight.  After storming out against the Minnesota Wild and jumping to a quick 2-0 lead, we watched the lead deteriorate before Drew Stafford turned on god mode and won the game on his own in overtime.

Sabres prospect backup goaltender Jhonas Enroth is going to start thinking that every NHL contest has to go to overtime or a shootout, as all of his wins this year have come in extra time.  It has gotten to the point that Sabres Fans on Twitter are starting to call the extra point for overtime and the shootout the Jhonas point.

Despite giving Minnesota the extra point, sixty minutes was all the Buffalo Sabres needed to hurdle the idle Carolina Hurricanes into the eighth and final playoff spot.  The first point tied the ‘Canes, the winning point put the Sabres not just realistically above the ‘Canes, but mathematically as well.

Despite all the attention that the playoff race, Andrej Sekera, and Brad Boyes are getting – Rob Niedermayer scored his first goal as a Buffalo Sabre tonight, placing him higher up on the all time scoring list than Raffi Torres.

The Buffalo Sabres have still yet to lose in regulation since Terry Pegula took over – and are 3-0-1 on this road trip; a much better start that the previous set of games of the six game homestand.

The Buffalo Sabres did not skate out of Minnesota all smiles, as Ennis and Kaleta were both injured during the game.

The Buffalo Sabres get Monday off, as they travel to Pittsburgh to play the Penguins on Tuesday.
