Gotta say. I saw very little humour in the cartoon comparison of Ryan Miller past and present, that the Buffalo News chose to run today. In fact, I thought that it lacked class.

It was an early “must-win” for the Buffalo Sabres as they ventured north of the border to face the hated Toronto Maple Leafs, but once again the team came out flat and were again out-worked as they fell to the Maple Leafs 2-0 at the Air Canada Center. Congratulations to captain, Jason Pominville for being named to his first NHL All Star game.
He's come a long way since being waived by the Sabres.
Pominville has scored 14 goals and assisted on 29 others this season. 43 points in42 games is an outstanding feat, considering the Sabres have been struggling to score goals for the past three weeks.

Lindy Ruff's team is starting the second half of the 11/12 season, with exactly the same record-- 18-18-5--- that it possessed at the midway point of the 10/11 season.

Thomas Vanek has suffered an upper body injury.
The injury occurred on the last shift of the first period when Vanek was taken hard into the corner glass by Dion Phaneuf. Vanek appeared to be injured after the hit, however, finished his shift in obvious pain.
Vanek did not answer the bell for period two. He skated only 6 shifts in the period for only 4:00 TOI.
