Buffalo Sabres defenseman Christian Ehrhoff sustained an upper body injury during his first-period fight with Troy Brouwer of the Washington Capitals. "He's going to miss some time," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff told the Buffalo News on Friday. "It'll probably be weeks." Signed to a 10-year, $40 million deal in the offseason, Ehrhoff has collected three goals, 14 assists and 28 penalty minutes this campaign. The 29-year-old Ehrhoff is yet another one of the Sabres who has been sidelined with various injuries. He joins fellow blue-liner Tyler Myers and forward Ville Leino - among many others - on the shelf for Buffalo.

The 2011 Buffalo Spots Year In Review: Sabres Free Agency

(Author's note: I wrote this prior to Christian Ehrhoff being hurt in the game versus the Capitals on December 30th. I know that he'll be out for 'weeks' so it's detriment to everything I probably say in this article. Just another wonderful thing to tack onto this season, right? Ugh.) I think the most exciting thing I experience this year being a hockey fan...

Buffalo Sabres Second Star of 2011: Zack Kassian

Zack Kassian was not even supposed to be a Buffalo Sabre at the beginning of the year, let alone be one of the top three players. The Rochester American was called up on 25 NOV 2011 and played his first game in Columbus. Since then, Kassian has shown a work ethic and value to this team and shows that he wants to earn his spot and stay on this team for the rest of the season. ...

Buffalo Sabres First Star of 2011: Thomas Vanek

Thomas Vanek, of what can I say about you. You manage to embody the work ethic that I praised Zack Kassian for having, but with the scoring touch to go along with it. He can score and also assist, be it by his earning an assist or just being able to screen the goalie, and making it easier for his teammates to score. Sure, some might say that he is lazy, due to the fact that ALL...

Sabres Offense Sputters As They Fall To The Capitals

After winning 5-1 and 4-2 in their prior meetings this season, the Buffalo Sabres ran into a brick wall Friday night at the Verizon Center in D.C..  Tomas Voukun made 25 saves and held the Buffalo to just one goal as the Washington Capitals defeated Buffalo 3-1. It is...

Kevin Freiheit: Low Ending to 2011

Follow @KevinSHC Happy New Year to everyone! Who thought the Sabres would be this low in the standings come January 1st? We're almost to the halfway point of the season and Buffalo have plenty of work to do. Last year around this time, the team wasn't doing any better, but will they have the same kind of late season surge as last season? Remember when Drew Stafford...

GARTH: Tux and Pux

Nathan Gerbe will take the pre-game warm-up skate tonight. He'll play if he feels well enough. Christian Ehrhoff will not play tonight. TJ brennan will skate in his stead. I expect Jhonas Enroth to get the start. ***

Sabres Continue Slumping Ways, Fall To Senators

Associated Press BUFFALO, N.Y. – Bobby Butler didn’t care how many times he and his Ottawa Senators had shots bounce off the goal post. So long as the last one went in, he was happy. After having two of his shots hit the post, the rookie forward scored the decisive goal in the fifth round of the shootout in a 3-2 win Saturday night over the slumping Buffalo Sabres...

After a slow start last night, the Senators started getting the bounces and were able to notch a thrilling victory that was capped with a milestone goal.
