Tyler Myers is the most experienced of the Sabres youngsters.
Tyler Myers, Tyler Ennis, Marcus Foligno, Cody Hogdson, and Mikhail Grigorenko.
What do they all have in common besides playing on the Sabres?
The answer; They’re all 23 or younger and currently have or will have prominent roles with the Sabres in the coming years.
Hodgson, acquired from Vancouver last season in a trade for Zack Kassian got off to a slow start in Buffalo, recording only 8 points in 20 games with the team last year.
However, this year has started differently for the former 10th overall pick. Through two games, the young center has two goals and has looked very dangerous paired with Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville.
Also playing well early in the season are the two Tyler’s, Ennis and Myers. Both have already proven themselves on the Sabres, acclimating themselves to the NHL very quickly.
The one thing fans and team officials are waiting to see out of them is if they can step their game up to another level ...

Kevin Freiheit: The Grigorenko decision
Two games down, three to go.
From the sounds of Lindy Ruff's morning interview on the Howard Simon Show, the Sabres plan on keeping Mikhail Grigorenko past the five game deadline.
I think if they do keep him up after the five games, it's a good idea for a couple reasons.
While Grigorenko hasn't got on the scoresheet, I'm not worried about him. I wasn'...

For all of Ryan Miller’s career domination versus Toronto (a 27-14-0 record, .922 SV%, 2.44 GAA coming into this season), he found himself surprisingly unable to lead his Buffalo Sabres to victory at the Air Canada Centre on any of the team’s three attempts during the 2011-12 campaign.

The Tough Guy Misconception
Well, here we are. One game into the lockout-shortened season and there is already a misconception brewing about the boys in blue and gold: “This 2013 squad’s identity is TOUGHNESS!!!”
After acquiring Steve Ott & John Scott in the off-season, Darcy & Co. did their part to add some grit to a team that many considered “soft.” Those additions to a team already populated...
Sabres 2, Maple Leafs 1
Ryan Miller stopped 34 shots to lead the Buffalo Sabres past the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1 on Monday night.
Miller lost his shutout bid when Nazem Kadri scored on the power play with 1:42 remaining, his second goal of the season. Toronto's Joffrey Lupul appeared to tie it seconds later with goalie Ben Scrivens on the bench, but the goal was disallowed.
With Scrivens on the bench...

GARTH: Jhonas On Notice
Ryan Miller, grab your toque and have a seat. Jhonas Enroth needs a turn in the Buffalo cage.
Before jumping the charter flight to Raleigh, Lindy Ruff pumped Enroth's tires.
âI think itâs important to get him going,â Ruff said. âItâs also important (because) weâve got five games in really less than eight (days). You look at it that way, we...

Sabres on their way after two wins
Well that was a fun couple of days, no? A 5-2 beat down of the Flyers followed by a near textbook road win against the Leafs and the Sabres have gotten off on the right foot for this shortened 2013 season.
Sunday’s opener was about as sloppy as expected, as the Sabres and Flyers plodded through forty minutes of fairly average hockey before the Sabres third period explosion...
