Pat Leonard at the Daily News reports that Michael Sauer (concussion) was at the Rangers Greenburgh training facility on Monday, but he is still completely shut down from on- or off-ice activity....i knew he wasn't skating, but didn't realize his off-ice activities were shutdown also. May not see Sauer until March. As far as Marc Staal goes, John Tortorella told Leonard that the Rangers defenseman's play has been inconsistent at times, and he doesn't intend to rush him into major regular minutes. However, Torts is confident that Staal will become a major factor this spring as far as increased minutes and a more prominent role....with how well the Rangers have been playing on defense there is absolutely no reason to force additional minutes on a guy who is still trying to find his game after missing all of camp and almost half the season. Steve Zipay at Newsday has more from Torts on Staal here.Remember to follow me on Twitter & Facebook or e-mail me at ...

Morrow Could Make Rangers Cup Threat

Editor’s Note: This was written prior to the Blackhawks acquiring Morrow’s services. It’s still a well thought out post, so we decided to run with it anyway. Some players simply fit well with certain teams. Brendan Morrow and the Rangers would fit. If Morrow, as suggested by TSN’s Bob McKenzie, is potentially up for grabs then the Rangers should seriously...

Getting Shots On Net On The Powerplay

Although I was unable to watch the full game last night, I caught the Rangers In 60, so I caught most of the highlights. The Rangers again went oh-for-the-powerplay last night, making their stretch of games without a powerplay goal something like 700 games. The powerplay has done some good things (although last night it stunk), but the end result is what matters, and the end result...

Rangers Rule All Star Weekend

Full disclosure, I was in Atlantic City this weekend and pretty much missed all the All Star festivities. But from what I've been able to gather, it looks like our Rangers pretty much dominated. It all started on Thursday night, when Marian Gaborik and Henrik Lundqvist stole the show during the NHL All Star Game draft... Then Saturday night, Carl Hagelin proved...

The Myth Of The “Untouchable” Player/Prospect

The term “untouchable” is often tossed around on Twitter, on blogs, and around the interwebs in many different forms. “Untouchable” is a term that fans have given to players they have either grown attached to, think are special in some way, or are vital to the organization’s well being. In the business that is hockey, there is no such thing as an “...

Rangers' Richards blanked again in shootout

For the sixth time in six shootouts, the Rangers called on Brad Richards out of the two-hole. For the sixth time in six shootouts, Richards, who came to New York this season with an estimable 25-for-60 mark (41.67 percent) in the skills competition, failed. “It’s definitely in my...

All I can say about tonights game, is WOW... What an amazing team effort to pull out the victory in a thriller against Hudson River Rivals, the New York Rangers.
