The Flyers will get yet another test early on in the season as they face Alexander Ovechkin and the Eastern Conference powerhouse Washington Capitals tonight at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Capitals come in to the game undefeated (5-0-0), but tonight will only be their second road contest of the season.

Veteran Tomas Vokoun has out-played expectations early on, posting a 1.94 goals against average and a stellar .935 save percentage to go along with his four wins. However, the Flyers are leading the league with 3.8 goals per game, and have a good shot at handing the rivals from DC their first loss of the season.

The crowd is sure to be buzzing tonight in South Philadelphia as rookie Brayden Schenn is set to make his National Hockey League debut in the team’s sixth game of the season. Schenn racked up four goals and four assists in just four games playing for the Adirondack Phantoms.

Schenn has already said that he will play tonight, but he isn’t sure which line he’ll be playing on.

Last season, the Flyers and Capitals went to overtime or shootout in each of the four games against each other last season. They each finished 2-0-2 to split the season series, with the last game ending in a 5-4 shootout victory for the Capitals at the Wells Fargo Center.

Alexander Ovechkin didn’t practice yesterday, but Capitals’ head coach Bruce Boudreau said it was nothing the superstar would miss any time for.

"He's got some bumps and bruises right now," Boudreau told reporters. "It was more of a maintenance day with two more games this week. Just told him to take it off and get some stretching done."

Everyone is healthy for the Flyers, but they still have some decisions to make regarding scratches for tonight’s game. Jody Shelley has finished serving his suspension, and may play on the fourth line tonight. However, Andreas Nodl may be a better option for the team, so nothing is set in stone just yet.

It also seems like the Flyers will be going back to Andreas Lilja as the team’s 6th defenseman tonight, with Matt Walker being a healthy scratch. Walker fought twice in Ottawa on Tuesday night, but he also had three minor penalties that could have really hurt the team’s effort.

Ilya Bryzgalov will be in net for the Flyers tonight when the puck drops at 7 o'clock. Bryz is 3-0-1 with a 1.99 GAA on the season.
