After making the hockey world wonder for the past few months we finally know the destination for former Badger defenseman Justin Schultz. He didn't wade into the free agency pool long as he announced earlier today that he will join the Edmonton Oilers to begin his NHL career. He became a free agent after allowing his exclusive signing period with the Anahiem Ducks to expire. By signing with the Oilers he returns to his native Canada. We will have a full in-depth report on one of the biggest and most anticipated rookie signings in recent NHL history later in the weekend. We wish Schultz good luck and ON WISCONSIN!!

The Oilers didn’t make anything remotely close to a splash on the first day of free agency. Instead the team chose three UFAs to re-sign in Ryan Smyth, Darcy Hordichuk and Jann Danis. But there is however the signing of Justin Schultz. So maybe they did make a splash afterall, even if it wasn’t for your typical proven, veteran, UFA player.
There are a number of attractive UFA...
The Edmonton Oilers signed a defenceman this morning, but it wasn’t the name that everyone has been waiting for. Early Saturday morning the team announced that they had signed Vancouver Giant defenceman David Musil. Musil was the Oilers second round pick at the 2011 NHL entry draft and while the Oilers didn’t need to sign him for another year since he is almost a lock to return...
Goaltender Yann Danis agreed to a one-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday. Danis played for Oklahoma City, the Oilers’ AHL affiliate, this past season and had a 26-14-2 record with a 2.07 goals-against average, .924 save percentage and five shutouts in 43 games. He was named the AHL’s outstanding goalie and to the all-star team. Danis, 31, played in one game...

Justin Schultz is now an Edmonton Oiler!I am proud of the Edmonton Oilers and their ability to land talented college defenseman Justin Schultz. Originally Drafted by the Anaheim Ducks, Schultz was unable to come to terms on a contract with the team. During the last week of May, 2012, Schultz officially "de-registered" from the University of Wisconsin triggering a process...
I shouldn't be so critical of Oilers management. They have been busy re-signing people. On Saturday, of course, the Oilers signed UFA Justin Schultz. On Sunday, the Oilers re-signed forward Ryan Smyth (2 years), goaltender Yann Danis (1 year) and forward Darcy Hordichuk. Other than that, no trades and no other UFA signings.
It was said this morning...
In what can only be disappointing news for the fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Edmonton Oilers are said to have signed free agent defenseman Justin Schultz to a two-year entry-level contract.
Schultz, who some scouts feel is the best defenseman not playing in the NHL, was said to be entertaining offers from several NHL clubs, including the Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, Ottawa...

This summer's prized rookie free agent has finally picked a team. A surprising team at that.
Former University of Wisconsin defenseman Justin Schultz made the surprising choice of signing with the lowly Edmonton Oilers. Schultz, 21, was a former draft pick of the Anaheim Ducks, but never signed making him a free agent.

I need to get to my wedding in less than a half-hour, but I thought I'd put this up anyway.
Thanks for the wedding gift, Justin. We needed you.
I have to make this quick...wedding rehearsal in 20 minutes.
But since I have a few seconds, I thought I'd pass on this neat little story to you. So how badly do the Oilers want to sign Justin Schultz?
We knew Oilers management were going to meet with him.
We knew at least one of the Oilers young stars were going to meet with him too. In this case, it was Taylor Hall...
I need to run...have a 9:20am t-time, and, oh yeah, I'm getting married at 2:30pm this afternoon. Priorities, priorities.
But before I head out, just a quick rumor: The Justin Schultz decision will be out in a few hours, and it sounds like the only two teams left in the battle for his services are the Edmonton Oilers and the Ottawa Senators.
Apparently, Schultz informed...
from Mark Spector of Sportsnet, It was LeBron James-like, as the Saturday afternoon unfolded, and hockey fans across the continent learned that their teams had fallen out of the Justin Schultz race, one after another.
