Seabrook Misses Cut, Good for the Blackhawks Many Chicago Blackhawks fans will question Steve Yzerman and the decision he made to leave Brent Seabrook off the Olympic roster. Don’t. Not only does this better serve Team Canada, it also greatly improves the Blackhawks chances to repeat as Stanley Cup champions. Which is more important? Ask Seabs and he’ll tell you the Stanley Cup. His lack of offensive production in 2010 in Vancouver, his home, only supports the choice to keep him out of Russia. In seven games he had one point, a measly plus two and two PIM. He averaged less than twelve minutes a game. These are not stats that would lead one to believe that he can have such a major impact as to change the outcome of the tournament. He’s much more valuable if well rested, averaging twenty minutes a night wearing the Indian head. Let’s also not forget the Blackhawks’ players have played more games in the last two years on average than any other team in the league. Add to that, the fact that the Hawks have sent a league high ten men to the games, he will be heavily leaned on coming back after the Olympic Games have concluded. Hopefully a rested Brent Seabrook means more of this….. GIF I understand the sense-of-pride we have as Hawks fans, but this coupled with Saad staying home leads me to believe that the Hawks are once again primed to make a strong run for Lord Stanley’s Cup. It’s my sincere hope ,anyway, that team USA takes gold; Kane comes home and celebrates with the now all too familiar grin under a cavalcade of water from fire hoses in June. Seabrook wouldn’t you rather have another Stanley Cup…..
