Selanne now ranks 19th in career scoring in NHL history, third among all European-born players. The only other European-born players with more points are Jaromir Jagr (born in Kladno, Czech Republic, 1,645 points) and Stan Mikita (born in Sokolce, Slovakia and raised in Canada, 1,467 points). Avs Down Ducks in OT; Selanne Moves Up

Playing without an injured Corey Perry (right shoulder) and Luca Sbisa (back spasms), the Ducks still held their own against a feisty Colorado Avalanche team.  Their efforts earned them a point, but Colorado took the extra point by defeating the Ducks 3-2 in overtime. The Ducks got behind the eight ball once again by having the opposing team score first.  Jamie McGinn sniped his...

Stars Shut Out Ducks 2-0; Perry Hurt

The Ducks were spectacular from the beginning of January until the end of February.  Once the trade deadline passed, they are having difficulties adding to the win column.  As a result, they keep sleeping in the standings and the clock (perhaps a bomb?) just keeps ticking louder and louder to the inevitable. The most recent loss, a 2-0 shutout by the Dallas Stars, really hurt. ...

Damn, An Impulse Buy: A Hockey Hall of Fame Expo 1/1

Scott Niedermayer helped the Ducks win their first and thus far only Stanley Cup, and I now have just my second hit of the future Hall of Famer.A sweet two-color jersey swatch from ITG Superlative, and it's the Silver Version numbered out of 30. However, it's rarer than that, as the top left corner is stamped with "2010 Fall Expo 1/1". The seller noted that this...

Steve Palumbo: Jonas Hiller Having a Career Year, Perry Injury Update + Justin Shultz?

Anaheim Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller has played in a career high 63 games thus far this season including a franchise record 27 consecutive starts. Despite the Ducks struggles this season the one constant all year has been Hiller. The fact is that without the 30-year-old Swiss born goalie between the pipes the season would have been over weeks ago. Hiller has faced an average of...

Eklund: Teemu vs. Jagr: Who Is Better?

There no doubt that both Jaromir Jagr and Teemu Selanne will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility -- whenever that may be. The two 40-year-old players are still highly productive NHL players and important members of the leadership groups of their respective teams. There's no doubt that both players can keep going for at least one more season...

Celebrating Saku Koivu

“During my cancer treatments, I never thought about what would happen with hockey. It was more important just to survive and beat the disease. Since then, I’m allowing myself to enjoy life and hockey more, even if the game has lost a ton of its meaning and importance in my life.“ - Saku Koivu, March 12th 2012 This isn’t going to be a post about the...
