Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson is "hopeful" to play in Monday's Game 6 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series against the top-seeded New York Rangers.
Alfredsson has been sidelined for the past three contests due to a mild concussion. The 39-year-old Swede did not accompany his team to New York for Saturday's Game 5, which was won by the Senators.
Rangers rookie Carl Hagelin is also eligible to return from his three-game suspension for delivering the elbow that felled Alfredsson.
Ottawa, which leads the series 3-2, hosts New York at Scotiabank Place.
