Ottawa Senators defenseman Matt Carkner will be sidelined indefinitely after undergoing knee surgery. Carkner aggravated a knee injury during the preseason. He had initially hurt his knee in April. The 30-year-old Carkner had one goal, six assists and 136 penalty minutes in 50 goals with Ottawa last season. He piled up 190 penalty minutes to go with two goals and nine assists in 81 games with the Senators in 2009-10.
