On Monday night, the Ottawa Senators hosted the Florida Panthers at Scotiabank Place and while it is a welcome scene simply to have NHL games being played again, something that was going on just off the ice definitely stole the show in Ottawa. Cameras, and then countless folks on the internet, noticed a curious figure seated directly behind the Senators’ bench. And what made this man so curious is he bore a striking resemblance to Senators head coach Paul MacLean. Actually, strike the reference to a striking resemblance. This gentlemen looked exactly like Paul MacLean. Disturbingly so. As you can see above, MacLean sports an interesting look, what with the rather formidable mustache sitting atop his upper lip. Which makes it all the more intriguing that there exists a near-exact doppelganger. Not only that, but the proximity of said doppelganger directly behind the bench is simply incredible. Here is the Paul MacLean Doppelganger: And here is Paul MacLean and the Paul MacLean Doppelganger in the same frame: (via @kastrol) And another image: (via @zchamu) And here is video of Paul MacLean and the Paul MacLean Doppelganger: And here is my mind being completely blown. Okay, you cannot see that, but I am sure most of you are experiencing the same thing. Puck Daddy did a great job of tracking any and all developments related to the bizarre scene that played out up Canada way throughout out the night, even advancing a few theories behind the freak occurrence, from the doppelganger is MacLean’s brother to the individual is simply a Senators fan who just so happens to look like MacLean and have seats located behind the Senators’ bench. Crazy stuff, man. UPDATE: Once again, via Puck Daddy, the identity of the most famous doppelganger on the interwebs has been discovered: He is Ottawa Senators fan Mike Watson, and the act of simply sitting in his company’s seats led to the entire spectacle.
