The Ottawa Senators are shipping their prized rookie back across the Atlantic Ocean.
The Senators announced on Wednesday that they are returning sixth overall pick Mika Zibanejad to Djurgarden of the Swedish Elite League.
"I think at 18 years of age, he was playing in the last little bit to survive and not to not make mistakes rather than be a creative kind of kid that we think he'll turn out to be," Ottawa general manager Brian Murray told TSN.
"I think it's the best thing for him," Senators first-year coach Paul MacLean said.
Zibanejad collected one assist and recorded a minus-3 in nine games this season.
