Found April 28, 2012 on The 6th Sens:
So far, four Senators players have accepted invitations to play for their countries at the IIHF World Championship in Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden. Jakob Silfverberg didn’t waste any time before getting ready to return to Sweden, while Erik Karlsson and Daniel Alfredsson decided to take a few days to think things over after being invited to join the Swedish team. The NHL’s 4th best scorer this year, Jason Spezza, however, won’t join Team Canada for the tournament. According to @Syl_St_Laurent, he’s been talking to management but been told they did not have a spot for him on the roster. Daniel Alfredsson is shown here after the Ottawa Senators' Game 7 loss. But they defied critics, and shook off an early slump in the season. Craig Anderson was a laughing target, and the Sens...

Alfie ”completing circles”, Erik wants to play at Worlds

Daniel Alfredsson has officially accepted the invitation to join the Swedish national team in a tournament that is partly being played on home ice in the Globe Arena in Stockholm. That could’ve been the end of the story right there, if not for a few interesting quotes Alfredsson left us with, talking to various Swedish media outlets. “I’ve been contemplating this for...
